SIAP

4. England's core is made up of players from the Prem's eighth place team

Spare a thought for Jamie Carragher, Jay Spearing and Jonjo Shelvey, the three Englishmen at Liverpool who didn’t bag a free trip to Polkraine. With the addition of Kelly, the squad now boasts a half dozen Reds: Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson. (To put that sextet in context, there are more Reds representing England than Bundesliga champion Borussia Dortmund players on the German squad or La Liga winner Real Madrid heroes suiting up for Spain this summer.)

------------Welbeck
------------------Rooney

Young --- Gerrard -- Parker --Walcott/Chamberlain

Cole --- Terry ----- Lescott--- Johnson

--------------- Hart ---------------

England can play with anyone in the world.

They are definitely a bit down though. Carrick and Cahill are pretty big exclusions too.

Funny you post this. I was in England a few years ago and went to a Man U match. The crowd was crazy of course but they were also bashing the England Nat'l team. Had a whole chant going -

"......, and you can shove your bloody England up your arse" (if i recall the lyrics correctly)

It was summertime so preseason match. Man U reserves vs Oxford. (just pulled this off man u board - comments about that match --> David Gray, James Chester and Richard Eckersley were solid at the back....Matty James as always looked good when he came on.
In fact Norwood and James looked much better as a midfield pairing but ironically Hewson and Drinkwater got the goals!

Also saw tottenham vs another lower level team at another stadium... spurs at the time had Bent and dos Santos had just arrived I believe.

edit: just found the Spurs match: "Our first team will play Leyton Orient in a friendly as part of pre-season preparations in July."

"We travel to Brisbane Road - ‘home’ of our reserve team - for the match on Wednesday July 30, kick-off 7.45pm."

Fun trip.

Bad for England, good for Liverpool.

Although I do find it hard to argue against Kelly, Henderson and Carroll. All 3 very well could be a big part of England's future and Woy is getting them some international experience. Especially considering all 3 were included because of an injury to someone else.

Downing is debatable and Johnson is stupid IMO.

Why do you keep saying this on here? England is not even close to the level of the top 3 in Europe right now.

at this point I think it's political. He has pissed off the wrong people in the FA. It doesn't help he hasn't exactly been a team player and be willing to be a backup.
