ETA: 1-3 if Omar gives up his traditional frick-up goal.

I thought he's been solid for us outside of his performance Wednesday.

Soccer by Ives reporting Herc Gomez is out Sunday with a knee injury
With other reports of Jozy not being 100% fit, I hope that means EJ starts up top, the dude is a baller and one of the few attacking/playmaking guys we have...not to mention his pace

The only thing I have heard about Jozy was that he was feeling some affects of being sick on Wednesday. I haven't heard anyone comment on whether or not he will play.

I'm hoping Boyd gets some meaningful minutes though if we are thing at forward tomorrow.

I wanna see

You could replace Zusi with GAM and put Boyd/Altidore up top.

FJ/DMB are interchangeable down the left flank all night.

Is it possible for Deuce to run the attacking midfield role in jurgens 4-2-3-1 system?
I know Clint is playing great right now for the U.S. (something like 12 goals in his last 16 games). but don't we need a real playmaker at the CAM role to make things go??

Switch run DMB and FJ and you've got my vote.

It will be a slaughterhouse tomorrow. Ze Germans are on a whole other level. Half the team plays together on Bayern Munich and just won the European Treble. I'm predicting a minimum beating of 4 Nil.

That would no doubt work, and probably be marginally better. That being said, FJ is our clear cut no.1 LB, and is much better defending there than DMB. DMB is a natural winger, let FJ play LB and overlap going forward. We need to keep building for Brazil'14, DMB isn't going to be playing left back come that time, chances are, FJ will.

I don't think any Bayern players are on the roster for tomorrow.

Also, here's a series of interesting tweets from Ives about the training session today:

quote:

@SoccerByIves: Fabian Johnson training on the LEFT wing today. Besler and Gonzalez working together with Beasley and Evans in possible back 4. #USMNT

@SoccerByIves: Geoff Cameron working at centerback with apparent second unit defense. Parkhurst and Joe Corona (yes, really) at fullback spots on that team

FJ training on the wing sounds intriguing; I know most people like him at LB but I want to see what he does for the attack at LM. I'm confused as to why Cameron is not training with first team defense at CB. I think he deserves it over Gonzo. Things could change come tomorrow though.

Interesting tweets. I would LOVE to have FJ as a left winger for us, he'd be perfect, I just would hate to lose him as a LB because DMB isn't a long term fix there.
In a perfect world FJ could stick to his best spot, LB, and Brek Shea could be the dynamic Left winger we desperately need..
oh well, one can dream

Also, I think the first 2 CB's should be Cameron/Gonzo, I can live with Besler/Gonzo, but I think Cameron has earned it over Besler at this point.

In terms of short recent performances I would say Besler earned a spot tomorrow. But for the long term future I think a gonzo/Cameron pairing is out best bet.

I don't watch schalke at all but I do recall jones scoring a goal while playing rm I believe. Have we ever explored that option? I realize we can't do it now though since we need him as a center mid but what about if stu were to become a serviceable mid again?

Ok I see what you're saying, Besler/Gonzo will be good I think, they've had 3 camps training together now. I rewatched the 1st half of the Belgium game and noticed Gonzo and Clarence Goodson getting after each other quite a bit, even Geoff Camerom started exchanging words with them both at one point. I'm assuming if Gonzo/Besler are starting tomm that Cameron is at RB?

I only watched Schalke a few times this year, didn't see Jones at RM in any of the ones I saw. I'm sure he'd be fine there, he can cross the ball in really well. He actually had a great game the other night vs Belgium.
Donovan will eventually be anchoring his RW again, and that's instant service and experience.
My concern isn't the wingers, or the back 4, those places will work themselves out. I'm worried about the lack of a no.10 to play CAM for us. We need a playmaker at attacking mid, and lack one severely
