There actually are two trophies. One is a replica. I would imagine the "real one" is in Manchester. I don't know if Liverpool's would become the "real" one if they end up pulling it out.
In 2012, I think the helicopter was on the way to Sunderland to deliver the trophy after City had shite the bed, but had to turn back. I could be wrong.
