What's the alternative if you get rid of him? You've already been through more award winning managers than I care to count. You're giving Madrid a run for their money.
Bring back Jose, Guus, or RAY!

Time to drop Anelka. It's funny b/c Joe Cole is tailor-made for sitting right behind Drogba and Anelka. He'd thrive in that spot.

Nah, probably not. His perceived potential from fans thrives but he's really not that great of a player.

Ha, no one can slow down attacking moves or dribble in place for fifteen minutes better than Joe Cole. His fame rests on two pretty sweet goals (against Sweden for England, and against Man U for Chelsea) and for getting his asskicked trying to bone Keeley Hazell.

I was a fan but obviously injuries have derailed his career big time. Doubt he ever makes a significant impact again.

He was a typically overrated English player. If anything, Frank Lampard would be a more productive player in that role, as at least he doesn't dawdle on the ball.

leaving Malouda off completely? Don't bother with the fact Malouda has been our best attacking player all season.
This is definitely a legitimate complaint to me. I don't know how you put Malouda on the bench with the season he is having. Seems like Anelka should have always been the odd man out.

Yes.

I would say he was a typically misutilized English player. Not big enough to play CM in a 4-4-2 so he was forced out onto the wing which wasn't his preferred locale. Jose misused him and England managers even more so.
Regardless of my opinion of him at the height of his health/talents, the guy's been injured almost non-stop since 2006. Not someone you can depend on.

Cole's problem is that he is sits too long on the ball. Not ideal for a trequartista/CAM role like someone was saying earlier. His technique is probably better than any English player of his generation. He just isn't quick enough with his decision making to be effective in the modern game.

Yeah. To be honest I can't comment much. Never got to see him when he played at West Ham where I've been told he played CAM. Just watching him at Chelsea or with England I felt he could be better utilized in the middle of the pitch.

The modern game doesn't really suit his skill set. The deep-lying defensive midfielder made players of Cole's ilk nearly completely ineffective in the center. If he can't make an impact wide, there is no use to play him in the center.

On a positive note, David Luiz looked good for the 20 minutes he was on
