How many year deal? And will he be loaned?
Posted on 7/29/14 at 11:35 am to MickDodge
We paid £10mm... 5 year deal and back to Lille on loan for this season..
Fee negotiated prior to WC, as was the loan (only way they'd do it)
Tottenham tried to hijack it in the 11th hour and Atletico Madrid was sniffing around too..

According to bib theory line-up tomorrow is: Kelly, Coates, Toure, Enrique, Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, Coutinho, Sturridge, Lambert; diamond

Really really happy about this origi deal. Relatively cheap and very high potential. I don't see how he could be worth less than we paid in a few years time which means even if he doesn't pan out to the level we want, he's a good buy.
Keep him at Lille this year, maybe a lower premier league team next, and bring him in the following year. I think he needs to develop his shot/scoring more, but he's got a lot of tools.
After seeing our third kit the other day I'm now torn over what jersey to get. Was going to get the yellow as it's a traditional away color and I don't have a yellow yet - but that third kit looked sharper than I anticipated on the field. Still have to figure out what name/number too and holding off for a bit to see if we bring in a big name. Until then thinking Henderson, sterling, or sturridge. Would almost certainly do sterling but for his legal issues in past.

I'm wondering if Sterling will be given a diff number by beginning of season...
BR said he could've used Origi this season, but the loan deal was the only way they'd sell. Im wondering if that is the issue with getting in another striker, knowing he'll be here next season...
Looking forward to the match tonight!

It sucks that Lovren couldn't get his visa in time to come train in the US... has to train with the U21s..
Posted on 7/30/14 at 8:58 am to TFTC
Yep. S*** like this always happens to us. Lallana picks up a knock and won't start the season with the rest of the group. Lovren can't get a VISA. Who writes the script?
We need somebody else up front in addition to Sturridge. Europe will put a toll on Sturridge.

I agree... especially since he is prone to knocks anyway..
I see Lambert as a late sub, the occasional partner with studge and in some lesser league games and cup matches...
Borini talk to Sunderland heating up again, but I just don't have faith in him as a lone striker in big games..

Yeah, Borini just does not fit that role. And neither does Lambert, despite his size. This is the main reason why the Remy no-go hurts us so much.

I'm torn as well. I need a Liverpool yellow shirt, but the third kit will be the one for European competition. It would be nice to have another shirt with CL patches again.

uggggghhhhh... Bertrand rumors are also heating up..
I'd rather not sign anyone and stick with Jose and Flanno as cover... go back in during the Jan window if need be..

Bertrand? No thanks. I agree with you about sticking to what we have if he is the only option.
Sterling a number changing? When would that happen? I want the jersey before the season starts.
Rodgers could use origi this year but id rather him on loan starting more games. I also think Rodgers is speaking through the media there since we can't have him rather than saying that he would need time elsewhere to develop. He would not be our first option off the bench and needs to develop more.

I was thinking Rodgers meant, since we haven't signed Remy, Origi would now get game time... maybe not.. But I think its good he's on loan, provided we bring in someone else

It's nice knowing we spent £10mm on a 19 yr old that was keeping Lukaku out of the Belgium 1st team at the WC... While I don't think he's better than him now, just shows what kind of potential this kid has..
Posted on 7/30/14 at 3:03 pm to TFTC
Speaking of Lukaku, Everton just ponied up the £28 transfer fee to Chelsea. I'd rather Origi for £10 mill than Lukaku for £28 mill.

yeah, thats why I posted that... Lukakau would obviously help us more this season, but in a year or two's time we could be looking at an equal or better player for a lot less...
I think its good business for everton, but a lot of money for them... I hope they do OK, as long as its below us in the table..

BR is building the squad up for long term success, which I love. I just hope he sticks around to enjoy that success.
