Odds we see either Johannsson or Brooks on the plane to Brazil?

As we stand now, we got a pretty solid 30+ players that could make up the WC roster. But now it looks like we will add to that with Johannsson announcing his intentions and Brooks getting capped soon.

Johannsson is off to fast start at AZ and we need striker depth behind Jozy and GAM. Like in past WC cycles, where the "hot foot" has been taken despite not participating at all in the qualifying, I could see Johannsson beating out Wondo/Gomez/Boyd if he has a good season at AZ.

As for Brooks, I think he would be our best centerback in the pool if/when we cap tie him. A Cherundolo/Brooks/Besler/Johnson(or Beasley) backline would be solid.

Saw where we invited him to camp but has he come out and said what his intentions are yet?

Brooks is going to start in the Bundesliga this year. We should be able to judge his quality.

Nothing from him, he will be in for the friendly in Bosnia which still doesn't cap tie him to us. Hopefully, he impresses Jurgen enough to get a call up for the September or October WCQ's

I hope we see both in Brazil.

I think Brooks has a better chance but I think both have a great shot at making the 23 man roster.

So he did commit to come in for that game? I hadnt seen anything on it which is why I was asking.

And yeah he has a much better shot and being in Brazil next year IMO

Just food for thought but Brooks and Besler are left footed. It will likely be those two battling for a spot. Besler is the best defender we have right now.

I rate Cherundolo very highly, but not at 35 coming off two knee injuries. I expect Chandler to be there for the Bosnia game and I expect to see Yedlin in camp after we clinch in September.

The two right backs in Brazil will be those two IMO.

This is not the issue.

two knee injuries

This is.

Everything I have read about the latest surgery though is that it was very routine and it is supposed to actually not only repair his knee but make it without pain.

Regardless of age, if Dolo is healthy and continues captaining Hannover, he will be starting in Brazil and may even captain the side.

Not if he isn't routinely getting playing time at Spurs.

Why don't we wait until they play in a game for the US, then circle back on it?

bah
No way he should wear it in a game that either Dolo or Bocanegra play in.

Boca was dropped, doubt he comes back, and until Dolo proves he is back from his knee issues he won't wear it. I fully expect Dempsey to have the arm band in Brazil. That being said the next in line to be Captain is Michael Bradley and I think he is already a captain of sorts already.

If it's not Dempsey or Dolo wearing the armband, it will be Howard.
