opposing instructions are usually the 2nd screen that comes up when getting into a game.
u decide who you want to be man defended, how hard to tackle, always force them to opposite foot, etc.
i never use this, the formation and team instructions do not need me to use this.
Also, dload the german team and brazilian team fix. Nothing worse than german national team with a bunch of yahoos that u never heard of. Or the teams in brazil all have 3 letter abbreviations, instead of team name. the dload fixes it all.
in fm2016 Portuguese,Croatian, and Ukrainian players were some of the best regens.
2017, the Portuguese are still great regens, but Ukrainians kind of got screwd with regens.

I've started to realize that a good majority of the highly rated youngsters I find seem to be Portuguese lol
I have like 4-5 of them in my team and I didn't realize it until yesterday

Agreed.
I downloaded and put in the folders to fix all of the names of the Brazil clubs, along with every other club as well (germany, portugal, spain are what come to mind).
It also came with competition badges and renamed the competitions correctly in all instances.
It's a nice upgrade.

That's what I love about the game. There are so many ways to go about playing. Some of my crazy arse thoughts and tactics have gotten me shite canned over the years.

You used to buy guys getting ready to retire in a year or so in January, and when they retired, you would get a regen. Many times if you bought the old star player, you would get a wonderkid regen.
I'm not sure it works for fm2017, but if anyone does it, and you do get a nice regen, let me know.
I will also try it, forgot about it.
I know one thing, i have 20's for academy,training,etc. Yet i cannot get a wonderkid regen to save my life. All 1 star to 2 star players.
I literally have the best scouting/coaching academy in the game and cannot produce a wonderkid. Yet one of the Danish clubs with the bucket as their logo, produces 3 and 4 star wonderkids every year.

I have 3-4 youth prospects right now that 'joined the club' or whatever at age 15-16, whatever it is, that have 3 1/2 star and higher potential. I'm assuming those are regens, right?
I hate using the stars though, because more often than not, it doesn't really dictate how good the player actually is.

yeah, regens are the players who come try out, and you either sign them or let them go.
Press the globe on top right, then press the transfers dealio on left, then press the transfer button, scroll down to youth intake. This will show you all of the regens that were just created by game.
Here is a chart that lists every countries regen dates. this way you know when to look fro the new regens.

I've produced 1 wonderkid every 3 years or so by having exactly what you said plus my staff member that is responsible for youth intake have high judging player ability/potential 14+ with his personality either Model Professional, Perfectinist, or Model Citizen. The youth take on his personality and have high attributes in Determination, Ambition, and Professionalism meaning they'll work really hard to meet their potential.

Cave in and bought FM17 Friday night...played a whole season this weekend Having trouble downloading the faces, badges, and kits though. Never used torrents before.

2 hours isn't really enough to get into this game if you are new to it. This was my first fm and it took me a couple of days to really learn just the basics. From there I've been addicted as I learn more and more about the game, and football in general.

Make sure you have a good head of youth development with high "working with youngsters" and judging players potential, the head of youth development is most important if you want high potential, and look for one that has high knowledge of the big countries (Brazil, Argentina, Germany, England, France, Spain, Portugal etc).Ask for your junior coaching budget to be increased, because this affects how good the players are right after your youth intake.
