Nope. NBC was the highest bid for the EPL this last go around and was four times higher than the previous Fox contract. They "gave" it away because no one else valued it as high.

Of course, the EPL also has many other countries buying rights and each one adds up to a ton of revenue.
thats what I was getting at

So this means we hear more Gus Johnson, right? Either way it's good that Fox is involved in more soccer now with this, the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, CONCACAF Champions League, Europa League. Does this mean that the qualifiers will be split or is this for friendly matches? Oh yeah the away matches need to be on Fox or ESPN instead of BeIn.

ESPN and FOX Sports will share MLS Cup Playoff matches outside of the two Univision games.
really need to drop Univision during the playoffs. its so frustrating.
last year, i think they had the return leg of NYRBs semi-final match. so naturally, i get all invested in the first leg, NYs failures and all that, only to find the dramatic conclusion is only available in mexican.

All games on Univision will now be available in the English language as well.
This is a really good deal, imo. Consistent start times will help immensely and the $90 mil figure is nothing to laugh at, but I'm curious as to how much will be going to US Soccer. The online rights being with ESPN3 is good as people won't have to pay, but the cable cutters seem to be upset over this, although they haven't released all of the streaming options so I'm not so sure what exactly they mean by this: "Featuring more than 200 MLS matches each year, the MLS out-of-market package will also be available via over-the-top services such as Google Play, iTunes Apple TV, Roku and others." But since they said "also be available", I am thinking it may be in addition to ESPN3.
Overall, this is exciting for the league and for fans and for that, I am glad.

Yeah I think the main problem with the tv games last year is they were on at different times every week. Seems like NBC has figured it out this year by having following their EPL games, which is what it should've been all along.

Yep, I think this is the most important line in the whole article:

It is worth re-emphasizing the point that all nationally-televised MLS games in the deal will be on Fridays and Sundays. Over the course of the the current set of deals, there have been games on six different days of the week with 21 different start times. That won't happen anymore.

Most should have access to ESPN3. That's the game they chose to play tho

I don't ever really pay attention to the Euro leagues, but I do watch 5-6 MLS games per weekend. I love this deal.

Yeah, as someone who really just got into MLS this year, I think this deal is fantastic. I'd rather watch from some legit stream like ESPN3 than some ghetto first row shite.

MLS Live really is worth it, even just for the rest of this season.
