New (I think) question about foul on Yamal

If Yamal was in front of the goal with no defender annywhere near and he knocked the ball in the goal in the same way he drew the foul, would it count?
I ask because near as I can tell the ball hit at least half way between the shoulder and the elbow. Where on the arm does it become a hand ball?

That was not a handball.
Arm is tucked to body, not making his body "unnaturally bigger" is the new way it is phrased. A handball will never be called when the arm is within the frame of your body.

I do understand the arm is tucked to the body, but it seems if you attack the ball with your arm, even though it is tucked, it should be a handball. The arm does make your body bigger. Does the phrase “hand to ball” or “ball to hand” still count for anything? Because Yamal definitely did “hand (arm) to ball” in my view.

quote:It shouldn't. You can't attack the ball if your hand is tucked against your body.

quote:This is the newest interpretation.
touches the ball with their hand/arm when it is in a position that makes their body unnaturally bigger and that position is not the result of their body moving fairly as part of play
quote:Until the arm is extended away from the body, most consider it part of the chest. This is why some players will cover their nuts in a wall instead of all of them putting them behind their backs, no player would risk giving up a handball inside the box. The newest interpretation of the law allows even more discretion for natural body movement.

I’m sure all of what you said is true, but I think a purposeful move to the ball with your arm, even with it against your side, should be a handball. But I don’t make the rules.
