What's not clear? We're experimenting with some new formations and seeing what some young guys are capable of.

No need to hi-jack the thread or offend anyone.

How long do we plan to experiment before we expect a solid lineup that we commit to for 2018?

I'm on board for another cycle but I wouldn't call myself convinced by any means.

4 years is eternity in the sports world. Who had Yedlin as a lock....oh say March 2014....for Brazil. No one! Formations are dependent on your personnel and form as well.

You won't see a true A team until the Gold Cup this summer. He said this right after the WC. We're still a long way til qualifying starts. You won't see us commit to a squad for 2018 until about 2 months before the 2018 WC.

Yea I realize this.

But right now it seems to be all over the place. Particularly plugging players out of position and refusing to call up true outside backs and playing them there.

Maybe the egomania just bothers me a bit, hope he proves me wrong.

We don't have many true outside backs to call up. We've been experimenting with a back 3, so you can afford to throw a guy like Brek Shea out there as your LWB. Ideally you would want FJ there, but he hasn't been available. I can't think of many other players in our pool that can play that position. Playing Jones as a CB is interesting and could possibly give him one more chance at a WC. He could be an asset there as long as he doesn't make too many dumb fouls. I can't really think of anyone else that's been out of position. I would love to give Mix a shot in Dempsey's position.

Garza has been solid there.

Agreed, but it's not like we have 5 guys that are getting passed up.

The wings are one of those positions that have baffled me for years why we can't find more talent there.

I guess call me butthurt still about Dono....

Great, another Klinsi fanboy.

Nope.

Just calling out dumb posts when I see them. FIFA rankings are not a reflection of a team's actual worth. They're largely pointless.

ETA: Dumb might be too harsh. Uninformed.

I know that. It was tongue and cheek.

Anything to take a jab at the Donovan HATER right?

Not denying that but GOAT for USMNT.

Sucks from a personality standpoint but that is the case.

Yep. I keep waiting for Robbie Rogers to get another shot but this time at LB. Was pretty solid there for the Galaxy
