See, this makes a lot of sense...I think Suarez is a tool, and his on-field actions show that. 'Pool fans can love him because he's a passionate goal scorer, but even he admits that he's not a shining role model on the field.

But that's all I can judge him on. I can't tell what he's like off the field. I know that he's a jerkwad on the field, plays for my club's big rival and he was involved in a bunch of crap with Evra.

I respect his honesty, though...at least he knows that people hate him and why.

I already said the point of the article isn't to change people's opinion of him.

The article humanizes him. I think that in our modern world of sport, most people forget that the players exist outside of the game. The game is all fans see, and Suarez just wants them to know that he is different when he isn't on the pitch.

That is the part that gets me. As someone who really doesn't hate any players (other than Charlie Adam), I feel sorry for players who remain under a dark cloud from fans. This resonates with me hard:

They shouldn't worry about rival fans not liking you. Haters gonna hate.

Suarez is not the first nor the last player to be a prick on the field. If he truly cared about his on the pitch reputation, he would change it. I certainly don't feel sorry for him in the slightest. What he and a lot of other athletes need to realize is that they are playing a GAME for a living. Have some fun out there.

Have you seen any sort of "change" in his behavior on the pitch this year? This is an honest question. I see the same ol' Suarez, running around and bitching at the ref. He doesn't need to change for me or any other spectator, but if he wants to change, great. Talk is cheap.

ETA:If I was a Pool fan, I would eat this article up as well. I'd be looking for any reason to try and sympathize with him. It's a good article, but people can say anything.

See if you see the commentator asking who is refereeing the match, Suarez or the ref. The guy bitches endlessly. I really don't care about the diving, I think it's as over used as "troll". The endless crying and surrounding the ref bothers me.

ETA:There are far worse divers in the Prem. Again, I understand you like him, he's on your squad. Please don't act like he's changed on the pitch. That's just watching through Red tinted glasses.

I always feel that if he spent as much energy working hard on the pitch and less energy crying to refs, he would be a much better player. I know a lot of people think his handball in the WC was a disgrace to the game. I don't care about that either. He gave his team the chance to win. For that, I commend him.

Love him for his play on the pitch... Everything I want in a player. Don't think he dives either... I do think he is overly dramatic about it and hopefully tht will be curbed in time, but it seems to be a part of the south American culture...
