That was the smartest thing Klinsmann has done in his tenure. Most everything else has been crap.

Gordon, an old b-level MLS striker, was a Klinsmann call-up near the start of the WC Qualifying process. His selection was ripped apart by many on here.

OHHH yeah I remember now. Hahaha yes good answer then.

B-Level is a bit generous for Alan Gordon prior to last season.

Such a hard question since everyone rates every player differently.
My first thought was Theo. For a long time my answer would have been Deuce, but he is finally getting some credit.

Dandy said something about Isco. He's going to be world class. I wouldn't say he was underrated though.

Ronaldo is clearly #1. Messi balloon d'or. While messi did deserve that, Ronaldo has been top notch ever since messi beat him out again for the award. Ronaldo runs his team and is a leader. Messi does not put fear in the eyes of defenders as ronaldo does. These are my beliefs.

Depends on how big your levels are, I guess.

I don't like including young players in the "underrated" conversations. It just doesn't really fit.

Neither would I. I simply stated that at this point, he is more accomplished.

I've never cared much for ManU, but for me year-in and year-out it's Michael Carrick

Of course mention of Pirlo awakens crazy from his posting slumber.

Theo is a solid call. I think lacking intense fan base support is a key to overall underrated-ness. The lack of love Theo's gotten until fairly recently from Arsenal fans has meant the casual observer hasn't been forced into taking note of his effectiveness. And even now, it seems like much of the arsenal support for Theo was more of an anti-board statement than actually pro-Theo.

Honestly, CR7 is underrated at this point. All we hear is Messi, Messi, Messi, but Ronaldo is definitely in the same sphere as him.

I agree with the OP on El Shaarawy. I would think he get a little more discussion on here. He is right up there with Cavani as far as the best striker in Serie A. I honestly rate him higher than any other young striker in the world.

What about Paul Scholes? I feel like he never got enough respect from England.

How can Cristiano be underrated when it is universally agreed upon that he's the second best on the planet?

The gap is greatly over exaggerated.

Messi is first, CR7 is second. There is no room there to be underrated.

Sure there is. Lebron was underrated in like 2010, despite being the best player in the world. Just because you are rated in the right spot, not mean you are accurately rated.

It sounds dumb, but the only good idea I could think of was using video game ratings.

People think Messi is a 99. Ronaldo may be given a 96. Even though the 96 is the second highest score in the world, he is really more like a 98.

If anyone is underrated, over a career, it might be Arteta. How he didn't earn a cap for Spain after his stellar 2006-07 season is beyond me.

Seemed like Arteta was widely considered the best player outside of the Top 4, but I agree. Great player. I always enjoyed watching him at Everton and it's been a joy watching his evolution at arsenal.
