USL teams have academies too, brah
yes but it starts at the grassroots level brahhh

And the changes to compensation for academies in the US will only incentivize it more.
bro MLS doesn't have to pay shite when it poaches players. The compensation is for when MLS gets poached

My understanding is that it’s for both, as under the new system Yedlin’s club team would get compensation for him going to the sounders and then Tottenham.
I agree about the grassroots thing. Putting MLS teams in more major markets seems like a good way to pique interest around the country.

Are you being intentionally dense?
Yes I am because the time it would take to write why doesn't matter as people like you will always try to make excuses for MLS. Bam Bam Zamorano said it best during the KC/Rayados match. MLS teams can't compete with the rules and regulations of the league holding them back.

So what’s your solution? Do away with the salary cap?

I'll make this quick as I don't have time to write a novel. The first three things I'd do is:
1. Get rid of single entity.
2. Get rid of all the player designations. It takes a fricking degree to figure out all of the rules in the league. Instead of a foreign player limit, make the teams have a certain number of American and/or U-23 or U-21 age players in the match day squad.
3. Salary Cap but with a luxury tax system like the NBA. Teams with owners who are willing to spend whatever it takes to win can at a price. Take the luxury tax money and redistribute that money to the other teams. Tax teams on transfer fees after spending x amount of dollars. Nothing crazy like the Chinese league is doing now though.
The reason for single entity was the league didn't want another Cosmos situation. That was all you heard in the beginning of the league. Trust me, I remember hearing it like you hear about Katrina during a Saints game. The key is letting owners spend if they want to create a better product on the field and forcing the other teams to catch up or be left behind (with money from the overspending teams coming in). I also believe this can increase the quality of foreign coach we see coming to the league. The rules that are in place turn off some coaches from coming into the league imo.
