Wright! Hell of a goal. We're so much better this year.

I did that, then bet them live as well.
Not feeling super confident in this snooze fest.
Hoping that Chicago tired chasing the ball for 35 min.

So, is Wondo being the MLS’s all-time leading scorer a testament to his ability or an indictment of MLS?

Great question. I’m not a huge follower of MLS unless gambling is involved, but I’d say his goals were mostly poachers goals, which is his skill set, which is allowed by poor marking, which is the quality of MLS defenders....so maybe both?

Probably half and half ability and longevity. He's scored in 15 of the last 16 seasons, but has really been on a good run since 2010. From what I can tell, he hasn't had had many really lengthy injuries. He's played in at least 26 games every season since 2010.

O/U at 2.5 for the Sounders vs Whitecaps. what's the move?
Posted on 7/19/20 at 9:20 pm to hendersonshands
I'd take the over, but I'm god awful at betting. So take the under.
Posted on 7/19/20 at 9:20 pm to hendersonshands
I’d say the over, but Fonzie ain’t walkIn out for Vancouver

I’m taking over. Seattle due a strong performance, and San Jose had 30 shots and 22 corners Thursday night. Vancouver will be deflated.

Wondo's goal-scoring prowess in MLS is a mix of ability and circumstance. He's legitimately an excellent poacher, Belgium miss aside. He has good movement in the box and is deceptively athletic. Even John Terry was impressed by his movement. He has good instincts that put him in the right place to tap home easy goals.
He's been a regular starter in San Jose for most of the last 10 years, and rarely got injured or called up to the national team (other than that brief window around 2013-14). He consistently gets around 15 goals a season, and sometimes much more than that. That adds up over the course of a decade.
Most of the players good enough to threaten his record (Donovan, Dempsey, etc.) didn't spend their whole careers in MLS like he did or they didn't play long enough like Twellman.
IMO, Taylor Twellman would have easily been the MLS all-time leading goalscorer if his career hadn't been derailed badly by injuries.
Wondo will retire with around 160 MLS goals, and with the league transitioning into being much more of a selling league, that's a mark that will probably stand for quite some time. I think Josef Martinez and/or Carlos Vela could potentially surpass that if they stay in MLS for at least 5 more years.

If my betting past is any indication, this game will end 1-1 and that offside goal will be the difference in the over hitting or not

Vancouver will be a weird team this year.
They pretty much tried a complete rebuild last season and that was an absolute disaster, so now they're blowing up the rebuild and trying again with almost an entirely different squad of players for the third season in a row.
I doubt it goes much better. The Whitecaps are just a poorly-run organization, from ownership down to the incompetent front office.

Gotta love the Craven Cottage high angle on the main wide cam...actually, I don’t have to do that
