That's a pretty good point, we just change the start and ending dates. Having the summer as a preseason does make it easier to schedule friendlies with European clubs and maybe even playing games in other countries. Maybe some of the owners are for this because those friendlies are pretty big money makers.

I don't think that it's an absolute Apple game changer, or anything, but it'd be nice to avoid certain scheduling conflicts and mid year transfers of players who are fresh off of their vacations.

I think the team in the worst location for a Euro Schedule is FC Tom Tomsk in Siberia. The Russian league has the same extended winter break as the Danish league. The average high temp in Tomsk during December is 12 degrees.

What scheduling conflicts? I can see why mid year transfers would be bad, but it's not reason enough to switch schedules. It seems in this case people want to switch just for its own sake. The March to November schedule works for the geography of this country. Moving it so it's in direct competetion with all the other major sports would undue the good work that has been done to grow the sport this past decade.

the only thing the MLS really needs to change is the date of its title game. going up against the NFL is just silly.
the move probably wouldn't be a death knell to the league like it was (one of multiple) to the USFL, but, for now, it's best to avoid the NFL behemoth at all costs.

SIAP, Do any of the MLS stadiums have under soil heating?
I think if the MLS ever did switch that this would be a must have for the Northern teams.

As mentioned, the international schedule. The Gold Cup was particularly bad this year.

the gold cup will always be bad. Just as an example, the world cup next summer could potentially force Seattle to play without 6 regular starters.

Having a summer break during large international tournaments is a better idea than aligning the schedule with Europe. I really think putting the meat of the MLS season against the NFL and CFB regular season, as well as the beginning of NBA and NHL seasons is a terrible idea.
ETA: Not to mention the MLB playoffs.

So having MLS games go up against late, important CFB games, NFL games, and post season MLB, as well as NBA and NHL playoff games, is more desirable than competing against regular season games (with the exception of baseball)?

Will not ever happen. TV will not pay money to compete with their other cash cows. Games would not be shown in sports bars or anywhere else. Attendance would crash in direct compitition with ncaa, nfl, and nba sucking up all the air in the room.This would end mls. Soccer in the US is not even close to being able to compete head to head yet.
