i think it's been fairly balanced and DDG has been the difference.

Palace has controlled the second half. I didn't watch the first, but judging by the second half Palace has been the better team. I generally make that assessment based on who controlled and carried out their gameplay better. I think that's been palace, but good teams find a way to win. United have done that today.

It was a balanced back and forth game, no way Palace dominated but IDGAF, we just went to one of the toughest places to play in the league and won.

Haha you're so defensive. You have some strange aversion to civilized conversation about the sport when it comes to your team. I rarely resort to trolling United unless its obvious to everyone and its clearly a joke. I wasn't trying to insult your squad by saying they were outplayed. Just a soccer opinion, no need to get touchy.

Well I guess that's where our definitions differ. I judge a team being "outplayed" based purely in a tactical sense. Palace responded tactically and United had no answer. The second half of games generally ends up being more important if you look at it that way. But its just the way I watch the game, and just one way in many you can make that assessment.

FWIW, I didn't think you were doing that, either. It's just you and jackwoods sounded like you had only watched the second half, hence my reaction.

Stats certainly play a part, but like I said they're not the most important part of that judgment, IMO.

Regardless you guys had the same shots, and shots on goal. Possession, passes completed, and clear cut chances created all favored CP. If you want to go the stats route I'd say it still favors CP. To each his own though, there's no exact science here.

And I would say Palace made the right tactical tweak, while United were weakened because of injury. (Speaking of which, Falcao did absolutely nothing in that 45.)

Not an excuse, but just what I saw out there, and they seemed to settle down a little bit after that blitz from Palace. But, if you look at the entire match, United had their chances and streaks of dominance as well.

Agree to disagree. United have the three points and most likely the UCL spot.

Fair enough. As I said though, I usually place more emphasis on tactical response when deciding which team was "outplayed." Its just a semantics difference, that's all.

You're talking about just the second half again, right?

ETA: Yeah, it's just semantics. I like to look at the entire story of the match. Think the first half gets overlooked too much, and not just because United played better in the first half here.

Hahaha you know what? Opta had the team stats reversed on the app. I just double checked on the Prem website and they were the opposite. Checked again on ESPN to confirm.

United dominated stats-wise. Definitely changes my tune a bit in regard to who was the better squad. Jeez you'd think they could put the correct stats under the right team.
