Yea but City didn't even try tonight. Not one shot on goal.

Looks like resting players vs Southampton really paid off.

Now Pellers can get down to signing that Zenit contract.

Pellegrini needs to go with Nacho upfront with Aguero more often. Jesus Navas is also fairly terrible.

Should have been a 4-4-2 going into this game

Maybe if Pellegrini stopped Aguero from playing in the midfield, they could have tested Navas. Though to be fair, he was probably worried about protecting Yaya defensively.

Unfortunately for the offense, he's much needed defensively. City don't make the semi-finals without him this season.

Joe Hart just said they didn't deserve to lose.

If he's much needed defensively, they should have promised a starting role to Milner, who is better defensively than Navas, and is a better wide midfielder than Navas.

This has been a common occurrence over the past couple of months. He's getting frustrated, and so he tries to force the ball to him. Then he can't do anything because of where he is on the pitch. So it seems to frustrate him even more. It's terrible.

I have no idea if Pep is going to be able to improve the team, but, much like the end of the Mancini era, I'm just ready for someone different.

I can see it from his angle. Madrid looked sort of toothless at times, though they had a couple of shots hit the crossbar and a couple of fantastic goal mouth opportunities that Hart saved. That's not to say Madrid weren't a good bit better, but from his perspective it was a deflected shot that resulted in the only goal.

I think what he meant was that he didn't deserve to lose.

And he would be right....without that SOB this could have been at least a 3/4 - 0 agg.

He should be mad at his teammates for their pathetic excuse for effort today.

He's trying to do the Tevez, which involves moving everywhere to find space, except Tevez ran like hell to wherever the space was, while I don't think Aguero has enough belief in his hamstrings to exert himself like that time and again. Aguero is at his best as a poacher, but the balance of the team is wrong. It's hard to fix without dropping one of the megastars.

I do not agree that Milner is better than Navas defensively. Milner was good offensively for City last year, but he made defensive mistakes far more often than Navas does/has.

Also, this may be wrong, but I've heard multiple times that Milner wanted to play CM, and Pellegrini wouldn't play him there.

The way Pellegrini set the team up meant the team was destined to fail. The Fernando's are way too much alike, and don't offer the penetrative ball between the lines. Toure is way too lazy to play at this level anymore. Navas can't do anything right offensively, and KDB needs someone more than Aguero to pair up with.

Madrid had so many opportunities, really squandered them though. Alternatively City looked more content to take the game to a 0-0... in a game they couldn't...

Question, is the Championship a single game or two still?

I agree.
