Match Day 4/29 | Freiburg, Crotone promoted; Birmingham vs. Boro

By virtue of a 2-1 win at Paderborn today, Freiburg return to the top flight after just a one-season absence. Side note: Paderborn were relegated with Freiburg last season and are in danger of going down to the 3. Liga.
RB Leipzig could have sealed promotion as well, but were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Arminia Bielefeld. Nürnberg can move to within 2 points with 2 games to go if they win at Braunschweig tomorrow.

frick it. This is a match day thread now. Boro one of 3 teams on 87 points atop the Championship. They are 1-1 at Birmingham at halftime.
Crotone at Modena needing just a point to secure Serie A football for the first time in club history. Currently 1-1 on the hour.
Augsburg 0-0 at home with Köln, who are down to 10 men. Augsburg can end their relegation worries with victory.

Altintop just had a beautiful nutmeg to get through on goal and promptly launched the ball into outer space.

Jordan Rhodes to Gaston Ramirez to put Boro up 2-1 at Birmingham. Would send Boro three points clear ahead of games Brighton and Burnley home games on Sunday.

I could see Rhodes doing really well in the Premier League for a newly promoted team. He gets on these runs where he scores at will.

Fulham considered a bid last offseason, but Khan was being a cheapass. Not sure we were willing to pony up what Blackburn wanted anyway.

Yep, would have gotten the fox package next season just to see them

Ouch for Boro. Birmingham find an equalizer. If they only get a point, they could be two down on Burnley and Brighton going to the final game of the season since those two have home games. But Boro close at home against Brighton, so not all lost.

Crotone get their point and have secured a first-ever promotion to Serie A. That's got to be a hell of a great feeling for the supporters of that club.
Cagliari can join them tomorrow with a victory over Livorno combined with a Trapani loss or draw against Novara.

Not that their fate was decided in today's match, but still another reason to hate 1860.
