Louisiana eCup (FIFA20 Tournament)

Posted by loJic IVOK on 4/2/20 at 3:08 pm

Third Coast Soccer, LSA and the Louisiana Fire have teamed up to create a state wide FIFA20 Tournament.

More info: LINK
We, East Jeff, played Brother Martin this year and they were the best team we faced. I had them making the final and giving St. Paul's a solid contest.

Gutted for Macca and the boys. That's an awful way to go out.

For young athletes, dreams of playing in the big leagues will cross their minds. Whether it's football, baseball, soccer, or some other sport, there's always that thought of one day going pro. While it may happen for some, others' lives take a different turn.

But that doesn't mean they still can't play the game and have some fun doing it.

From warm-ups to tricks, the soccer players on Krewe FC don't hold back when it comes to the sport they love.

What you need to do is contact PJ at Crescent City Soccer, tell him to call Mike Ritch at Cajun Rush and get a league going.
The GCPL has announced the launch of the Gulf Coast Development League (GCDL) as the next phase in their developmental approach for all up and coming players in the Gulf Coast region.

“Development for our players has always been one of the main ambitions for the GCPL” said league President, Jeremy Poklemba. “Ultimately we want to see all of our clubs positioned with a developmental approach that allows them to identify those aspiring competitive youth players in their area”

The 2019 GCDL season will feature four teams that will play a double round robin competition starting in May.

Any particular reason you're taking a dig at GCPL?
Former Lafreniere SC and Grace King product. Stellar player.

The final is here. Cajun Soccer Club out of Lafayette will be taking on Port City FC from Gulfport this Saturday in Mobile. Come out and support some local soccer.

You have to agree that Rafters were pretty cocky going in to this game. I'm almost certain they were very sure of themselves to put BOCA away. Can't say they would have thump their chest afterwards further spewing the 'step down' rhetoric, but my bet is that the chances were high.

I hope it turns into a rivalry for 20+ years.

The GCPL is focused on growing the game where NPSL and PDL aren't. Yes, we have teams that may not have the talent that larger cities have but the fact that an owner can take a shot at trying to build a club in Lake Charles or Hattiesburg without dropping $50k just to start is why we do it.

The Mississippi Storm came and went after 2 seasons, yet Port City FC is thriving and has already surpassed the numbers MS Storm were pulling.

GCPL focuses on keeping it local and community driven. Very happy to see Rafters FC try and create something wtih a club they think lesser of.

Not sure who made that graphic, but the USSF only recognizes division 1-3. Division 4 is amateur and there are no tiers.

Like I've stated before, yes NPSL has been around since 2002 and are a national league, which gives them more prestige. They have a handful of top level teams that GCPL probably would struggle competing with. But other than the 9-10 teams out of the 100 or so NPSL has, the league is no different then any decent local league. I'll put my money on Lansdowne Bhoys from the Cosmopolitan League in New York over Tyler FC in the NPSL 10 out of 10 times. Harpos FC out of the Colorado Premier League traveled to Detroit City FC and drew them 1-1.

I get the NPSL's model and it has helped facilitate teams like Chattanooga FC and Detroit City FC, but it's also catered to a large amount of delusional owners who threw tens of thousands of dollars at the league only to fold two years later.

Amateur national leagues are nothing more than an umbrella to regional play. Except the regional winners meet at the end of the season to play for a national title. Can you name the last 3 NPSL national champs without looking, no nobody cares other than the winners.

My point being, Rafters have spent well over $100k since their existence, to where BOCA probably under $50k. Both are on the same level, compete with the same ambitions. Neither are getting promoted if they win the league. Boca will be competing in the USASA region III national cup, which if they win will advance them to the USASA national. Rafters do the same exact same thing, but under the NPSL. No difference, just one promotes itself as a national league and the other a regional league.

Quesi was a GCPL player before he ever stepped foot in Turkey.

Rafters never said Boca players weren't good. The owner said the GCPL was a 'step down'. Some banter pursued and Rafters became defensive.

Sort of GCPL related.

BOCA FC Knights knock off Shreveport Rafters

The BOCA FC Knights took home the inaugural Red River Debry with a 4-2 victory over the Shreveport Rafters at Independence Stadium on Thursday night.

“This is amazing,'' BOCA coach Larry Guerrero said. "One of the greatest feelings right now. This puts us on the map with soccer in Shreveport. They’ve been looking at us like a Sunday league team.

GCPL WEEK THREE RECAP: BLUES GRAB THREE, BOCA ROMPS, AND MOTAGUA ROLL

In a weekend whose weather represents summer life in the Gulf Coast, teams are beginning to separate themselves from the pack. Gaffa FC, Motagua, Pensacola FC, and BOCA FC Knights all looked like world beaters over the last few days. In the meantime, the biggest game along the Northern Gulf Coast was pushed off due to threats of Tropical Storm Alberto as AFC Mobile and Port City FC’s “Forgotten Coast Cup” first-leg match was postponed until June 20th. So as the rain rolled through, or in oft cases did not, soccer played on as the Gulf Coast Premier League continued to move.

GCPL WEEK TWO RECAP: BLUE EAGLES RETURN, GAFFA FC FINDS ITS FORM, RANGERS MAKE A STATEMENT

What a difference a week makes. Early seasons are always a bit chaotic, and there was much in the air following GCPL’s week one. The defending champs Gaffa FC had not played, the most successful team in league history CD Motagua of New Orleans was a week away from their regular season debut, and a surprising result in Shreveport shook up the entire Eastern Conference. Every club now has one game under its belt and while the picture is not fully painted, it is starting to become a bit clearer.
