They were so much fun to watch under Zidane. I wish CR7 was still there.

Yeah, it was so nice to have my favorite players to watch all condensed on one side.

this is weird. all the presumed reasons he left have come to fruition and then some.

he literally left the club because of the impending disaster , and is now coming back to save the disaster

If he stays past this season there has to be some type of clause that gives him full control when it comes to purchasing players or selling them.

No way in frick he would give the go ahead to sell CR7

It's brilliant. He's not responsible/blamed for the disaster. People realize how bad it is now that he's gone and Ronaldo has left. The squad will be overhauled. He'll get some patience while that happens, well as much patience as you can get in Madrid.

This. None of the stink is on him, everyone now knows they need a rebuild, and Flo is giving him a blank check.

Chances are he woulda been sacked if he stayed.

Genius really.

He saw the team would struggle without CR7, he knew he was gone at the end of the year, So Zizou leaves at the peak, "rides off into the sunset" knowing that no manager can save this team at the moment.

Fast forward, they sack their 2 managers they've had and come crawling back to the guy who last lead them to glory... But at a cost, much more than what they paid him before.

Signs a 3 year deal until June 2022. Now time to open that checkbook & unload the dead weight.

Or perhaps he saw the need to restructure the lineup away from very aging veterans.

Wouldn't it have been easier to just talk to Perez? It seems like a roundabout way of dealing with an issue, an aging squad, that Perez would have been onboard with, which would have given him lots of leeway when the team struggled.

He'll have the midfield playing a lot better for sure.

The fans would've never gone for it, though. The fans are seeing rock bottom (well rock bottom for Madrid) and getting perspective. I don't think they'd have been patient if they just said "Hey, be patient. We need to rebuild."

Real Madrid: Zidane's new salary revealed by El Confidencial
Real Madrid: Zidane's new salary revealed by El ConfidencialDimitar Dilkoff AFP
According to the newspaper, Zinedine Zidane has been coaxed back to the Real Madrid dugout in exchange for a reasonably affordable salary.
As.com 13/03/2019 11:16
Zinedine Zidane's re-appointment as Real Madrid boss has given Los Merengues' fans something to shout about once more. They are right behind the return of a coach who won three Champions Leagues in his first spell at the helm, and who appears just the man to motivate a squad firmly in the doldrums.

And those in charge of the club's coffers will also be pleased: Madrid have reportedly lured Zidane back to the Bernabéu for a price which, in today's market, is an eminently affordable outlay for a coach of his standing.

Zidane reportedly on 12m plus add-ons at Real Madrid
According to the newspaper El Confidencial, the Frenchman is to earn a basic annual salary of 12 million euros as part of the three-year deal he was this week handed by club president Florentino Pérez, with that wage then topped up by a series of incentivised add-ons. Such a salary is only half the 24-million-euro, pre-bonus pay packet that Diego Simeone now picks up each year at city rivals Atlético.
