yeah i didn't doubt you. i do doubt the truth of what Liverpool says (based off Torres, Reina, etc statements; though you hinted at it too). i was just saying things could get ugly if he truly believes he should be able to get out for £40m.

I tend to think the arbitration council will side with Liverpool. Just my inclination on the matter. If Suarez wants to force a move, he can hand in a transfer request and refuse to play, but I don't think he does that.

I think if the contract is written as LFC believes, that we dont have to sell to anyone. Now if it is ambiguous and open to interpretation, then who knows??

We still have a way to go so who knows ...
IMO opinion we need to bring in more solid "FIRST TEAM" people that will show him we are serious and might pipe him down a little knowing that even though we are refusing to sell him to a rival, we are serious about making a go "THIS" year at Champions League football. Maybe this will calm him down and allow us to try and move him to somewhere outside of the BPL in the winter if not next summer. OR, we attain CL football and possibly retain him for more time to come.
(I don't think this would be an issue if it was Real Madrid making the bid)

It's just an odd clause to put in, in general.

It's an entirely mind-numbingly worthless clause

Having failed with two bids for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez the Emirates Stadium side will make a £50m bid for the 26 year old which is likely to be accepted by the Merseyside club who are ready to relent in their push to retain the Uruguayan.
From my Empire of the Kop app ... would link but can't.

If arsenal bid that then DAMN!

If he can stay healthy, Sturridge is a 20+ goal/year striker... sell him, bring 3 new players in, get a six game jump on them... and frick em outta 4th... WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

Also, empire of the kop..ehhh. I'd be shocked and impressed if Arsene paid that.

Yeah not his M.O. I'm confused to be on the other side of this to be honest.

On one hand I agree with the sentiment of paying whatever it takes to get the player you need. And don't get me wrong, Suarez is THE player Arsene needs. On the other hand, at what point do you say "this isn't worth it" for a player of Suarez's history? It will be interesting to see where Arsenal believe that point is, I guess.

i've always thought if the deal got done, it'd be ~£50+m but bc of add ons.

Wenger is probably pretty confident that he can deal with Suarez, given his track record with Anelka and others. We have to remember that when we had
Vieira, Wenger perfected the "I did not zee it." I assume he will take the same approach to any of Suarez's on-field behavior.
So my view is that Wenger finally has money, a lot of it, nearly 200 mil in the bank, so what is 50 mil for a player who can probably push us toward trophies? I mean, it' not like we have other options to spend that money on. And there's no reason to save it, as we've been saving for the last 9 years or so.

fricking Vieira, man.
Yea, that all makes sense. There are just so many random implications that come into play when spending that much though, regardless if it's within budget.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says they're not close to agreeing a deal for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
The Gunners are willing to smash their strict wage structure and make the Liverpool striker the highest-paid player in their history.
But Wenger said: “We are not close to signing Suarez... or anyone else. We are ready to do quick deals but all the transfers do not depend only on us. We are prepared to wait.
I'm so

Don't listen to a single word that comes out of that brilliant French mouth

So Suarez isn't for sale but Liverpool is?
Posted on 7/26/13 at 10:06 pm to Jumbeauxlaya
No no no, Brendan Rogers is for sale and Suarez is going to replace him as manager.
