Thrashing Real Madrid 4-0 at Anfield in UCL and then coming back 4 days later and hammering ManUre at Old Toilet 4-1... Torres in the form of his life.. my favorite week as a LFC supporter... The only way was up after that season

Even in a more realistic sense, assuming we drop 10 points from your ideal scenario in defeats along the way, that's still 72. We're on pace, we just need a strong window. No bullshite squad depth. We have one competition and one competition only that matters.

I guess that's what I meant by my post is even with that over the top view of what we could do ... that even if we dropped a few along the way we could still be in a good position.

ADD STARTING PLAYERS BRENDAN.

If he and FSG allows him to do this then I think my case for the better outcomes will hold true.

We have to strengthen during the winter to keep pace on those that are dropping out of other competitions and are becoming more competitive in the league.

That Real Madrid match was like something out of a dream. Torres was the best striker in the world at that point. He was unstoppable.

No I know, I was just putting a number on what you were saying. I got where you were going with it.

I'm sure he will ask for a big war chest. No manager in their right mind would think the squad is fine as is with this ascendancy (except maybe Arsene). Sometimes Its more important to buy when you're doing well than to do so when you aren't.

I'm just hoping FSG agree. We're on the threshold and that window could make or break not only this year, but next as well.

He was the reason I became a Red and I still have dreams about the miracles he'd perform for us at Anfield and while wearing the Liverbird crest.

He was simply amazing and even though he left us the way he did ... I will always love him.

This is what scares me as well.

Hopefully their win over the Cardinals might give them the confidence to do what is right for us.

January is a tough market, but I like how BR targeted the talented but out of favor players last January... give someone new life and a chance... granted, there is a bit of risk, but thats where the value is IMO...

I hope the link to Yann M'Villa is true... Highly regarded on the pitch and apparently he has cleaned up his act off of it... where there is smoke there is fire in his visit to Merseyside... Pastore would be another out of favor player who I would die for... 4-2-2-2.. Him and Coutinho as the advanced 2 in the MF, Stevie and Yann as the 2 deeper MFers...

I really think there is something to it... Sakho is his boy, wants to leave Russia and play in the EPL... Supposedly, could be had for between £8 - £10... a bargain and has the potential to be one of the best DMs in Europe! He should be here Jan 1st...

Wow. If true there is no excuse. He'd fit perfectly. I love Lucas, but he's just not good enough if we're to take the next step.

We'd esseintially have Yann & Stevie with Hendo & Lucas as cover ... with Joe Allen buried on the bench.

I can live with this.

ETA: On top of having Yann, I want someone that has pace and can score to provide relief for SAS.

I'd be ok selling Allen back to Swansea at a loss or some other team in the summer... If the Will Hughes rumors are true, he could be our 5th CM.. Suso and Alberto for our AMF cover, though wouldnt be opposed for some more experience here..

I dont think Allen is bad and should probably be playing somewhere, just not here... He doesnt make enough of a difference, whether it be passing or scoring... he gets in good positions in the box then shits the bed... He is good in possession, but is not good/big/strong enough for a DM role...

edit: All that said, I get why BR brought him in (overpaid by about £5m) and he played well early on, but he is still young and can hopefully still get a decent fee for him..

I feel bad for Allen. He's gotten somewhat of a bum wrap by the supporters. He holds very well, and when he's on he can pick out a pass from a mile away.

He just never seems to be on anymore. The expectations clearly overwhelmed him.

I kinda feel like it's between him and Hendo... Clearly BR didnt think much of Hendo when he first got the job, but Hendo has obviously progressed more and is more valuable to us...

Stevie is untouchable (and undroppable for now) and Lucas is our only DM (or back up DM + Luis' buddy)

Exactly how I feel as well.

One of the first things I think about when I think of Lucas now too ...
