I dont think any of us want him gone, but if he pulls in £50mm then it's a no brainer...

That can fund 3 very good players that can advance us further along...

The only way it's a bad thing, is if we're having this conversation Mid-late August... then we'd be proper fricked!

However, a 39% win rate when Suarez plays in the Premier League, compared with 62% when absent, suggests that Liverpool are the opposite of “reliant” on him. To put it into context, 39% is roughly Everton’s level, 62% is Manchester City’s.

A perfect example of why stats are bullshite.

Agreed .... if LFC are to sell, get it done early and let's go about getting players in.

Was listening to "The Anfield Wrap" pod ... and they argue that if a club like Monaco, who entering this window probably had a squad totaling 40-50M pounds before this spending spree can attract players, why can't Liverpool with its history?

Monaco's sell is in the tax break, sure. But ours is in our history, cups and up-and-coming roster.

Whether or not we sell on Suarez, I'd like to see the club get in on some 20M players.

Houllier loved to dink and dime his way through transfer windows too, but he always brought in that big name. One or two big names to go along with those 3-8M players takes a supporter base from "wait and see" to BUZZING about what is next.

Champions League prospects.

AS Monaco have more money and an easier way to get to the big dance. They'll have a more talented squad than Lyon, Marseille, Lille, etc. before their spree is over this summer. I'd be surprised if they don't get Top 3 this season. If they don't, they'll make sure they get it in 2014-15.

Liverpool is probably a couple seasons away from the Top 4, and they'll have a tougher time in a tougher league.

Some big names like Falcao and the Porto duo will go without UCL play for a season, but most want to play on the big stage ASAP. Others won't even look at Monaco until they prove themselves. As for Liverpool, it's hard for big names to sign on with a team still building at the moment. Yeah, there's history and cups and all that...but everyone wants a ticket to the UCL. When Liverpool gets back in that position, then you'll see big names. Until then, you'll keep seeing younger, talented guys from smaller leagues around Europe or smaller clubs in the big leagues.

It's just hard right now for Liverpool to go head-to-head with the UCL powers when it comes to the transfer market.

Just my .02.

Can't agree with this, all homerism aside. With all of the new managers, this season should be a good setting to get there. We finished 3rd (I think) in the table since January. Decent signings for the back line, and I think we'll easily compete for the 4th spot, and have a good chance at getting it. We're scoring in bucket loads, just gave up too many easy ones in the fall. If that can be corrected (and based on the second half of the season, its well on its way there) I don't think we have any issue getting to 4th.

Bale will be gone, Arsenal won't go on that ridiculous run of games to end the season again. I'm not saying its definite, but we should certainly be capable of achieving 4th. The table is set.

Tottenham without Bale has nearly the same problems to mask as Liverpool does, and would also be masking them without Champions League football. Level playing field.

I'd argue that Tottenham would be much worse off without Bale than we would without Suarez. I mean, how many games did they win when Bale didn't score? Wasn't it like 3 since January? We've already proven we don't need Suarez to win games. If Bale is gone, Yids are fricked.

It's funny to think how deep Liverpool can be in attack with its full compliment of players.

On the wings: Coutinho, Sterling, Suso, Downing, Ibe, Aspas, Suarez

Midfield: Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, Shelvey, Henderson

Up stop: Sturridge, Borini, Suarez, Aspas ...

For a side that many of us were concerned about a lack of depth up top to start the season ... we've done well to develop young talent.

That's why I wasn't panicked with so many young guys getting run early on. In the long run, this team is so much better for it.

Fair enough. I just see that Liverpool squad having a Spurs-like year before getting in. They're getting there, though. Rebuild with youth, and there's enough to cover any busts you might have.

What happens with Suarez and the money from a sale will be key. Where will Liverpool invest?

Well obviously another striker if Luis is out. Then one or two CBs for sure. A DM and an attacking mid perhaps, although we're playing Cou there now so maybe the AMF isn't so important.

I want CE ...

a DM, 1 or 2 CB, LB & Forward.

I know this a lot but still I want to see fresh blood in these positions.

I'd love CE, but doesn't he play in the center? That's Cou's spot to lose right now. You can't take Lucas, Gerrard, or Cou out so that leaves Downing's spot I guess. What formation would we play if we bought him?

I agree... I think with some clever moves this summer, we can challenge for top 4. Now I believe we are still a couple seasons away from challenging for the league. We have to avoid a bad start like last season... I'm a little concerned with Suarez's ban/possible transfer and Sturridge's injury, that we could fall into that same situation

Top 4 is highly unlikely next season. And we are at least 4-5 seasons away from challenging for the title in my opinion.

looking like DS's injury is a high ankle sprain... very good news if there is no ligament damage..
