What was WBA's lineup like for this game? Bunch of youngsters like us, or some veterans as well?

The young lads + Carragher did it! First win over an english side this season!
This is the spark we needed.

I've only been watching snippets here and there at work via atdhenet. I'm curious as to how many of these WBA guys were on the pitch for Day 1.

I definitely saw 3 or 4 first teamers, but I'm not sure about the rest. Anyone have the lineups?

I was listening to talksport driving home and they said we had 11 changes from the weekend and they had 5...

I've been looking at warrior's LFC jackets, and thinking about picking up one for Christmas. I'm not totally sure which one BR was wearing today, but I'm personally leaning towards either the red or black anthem jacket because they are the only ones that don't say 'Standard Chartered' across the back. I just feel it's a stupid place for a sponsor logo.
The others are here:

I may just end up getting a home L/S shirt intead. Perhaps Agger this time? Or Allen? But I feel Allen will eventually have a different number, so maybe its best I wait on him.

we drew Swansea at home for the next round...

Good result. The kids were very encouraging. Sahin and Assaidi were class. Coates was a beast. Pacheco was very good tracking back. Suso looked brilliant in his cameo. Yesil needs to put on some weight and get stronger on his feet so he can turn EPL defenders. Jack Robinson and Wisdom were very good.
Hendo had both good and bad bits. Downing was inconsequential.
Lets not get too carried away. This was a good victory but it was basically against a weak team who we should be beating easily (I know we got hammered in the last fixture but looking at the bigger picture) and in a cup game. Now lets reproduce this form in the league against Norwich. YNWA!

With our first squad maybe. West Brom isn't a chump matchup. They aren't a championship side. Let's not also forget we had our entire second team, and some 3rd team members out there.

It was said prematch that LFC made 11 changes from Sunday, WBA only 5. Which means WBA played at least 6 regulars. At Hawthorns. Where their first team beat ours 3-0 on day 1.
This was a good win, and something to build off of. There is no other way of looking at this.

A great benchmark for where we are right now. So proud of all the kids and how they each stepped up in their own way. Bravo to Wisdom, Sahin, Assaidi, and Suso, among others.
And god damn are we playing some gorgeous football right now.

Just finished watching the West Brom match. WHAT A MATCH!
What a young squad that was. Has to be one of the most inexperienced LFC squads of all time. Brad Jones, Jamie Carragher, Nuri Sahin and Assaidi were the 4 oldest. The rest were all U22 I believe, and several were in their teens.
Nuri Sahin MOTM. Completely controlled the midfield and netted both goals. I complained a bit about him the past few weeks. It seemed to me like he really didn't understand his role while he was in the midfield with Gerrard and Allen. Today that seemed different. He put in an excellent defensive shift and obviously knew when to go forward. The biggest thing I noticed was how vocal he and Henderson were. They were the experienced commanders surrounded by little kids. But man, does he seem lead-footed to anyone else?
Assaidi certainly passes the eye test to me. A ball of energy. His first touch is superb and he is filled with tricks. Hope he can maintain full match fitness and give us a bit of balance in the PL soon.
Henderson didn't have his best game, but he was still a big presence in the middle of the park. Often controlling the match from behind the defense, he dictated the tempo for large majorities of the match.
Coates was MOTM outside of Sahin. Some unbelievably clutch tackles. Would love to see him in the XI this weekend.
Carragher had me pleasantly surprised. Played pretty well.
Yesil is obviously still a bit off the pace, but he had some very bright moments. His fitness really deteriorated around the 65' mark though.
Suso..what a sub. Huge.
Jerome Sinclair..what a moment. The hidden factor behind the second goal. Dragged the CB far post before bringing him back into the center of the box, opening Assaidi wide.
Downing..wow. Maybe the worst performance I've ever seen him put in. I was all for giving him a second chance and even thought he might be a decent sub in the PL. Hopefully that match was a complete anomaly because he looked much worse than he usually does.
Brad Jones. 1 or 2 big saves. Other than that I can't help but wonder when Gulasci will start to get his chance. I've read that he isn't the sweeper keeper Rodgers fancies, but neither is Jones. And at 30 I don't think he is offering much to the club (I think the announcer said this was only his 7th LFC appearance).
Did I miss anyone else worth mentioning?
ETA Pacheco. Was curious to see what he would look like today since we haven't seen much of him the past few years. His match against Young Boys last week was rather pitiful. Made up for it a bit today, but I still don't think he has a place in the club. I'm not sure if anyone listened to the Anfield Wrap's interview with Rafa, but Pacheco seems to be the exact kind of player he referenced. Someone with tremendous heart. Someone who wants to succeed and has a bit of skill. But someone who just doesn't have what it takes to help the squad challenge for Europe (our eventual goal).

Complete boss. Watching him orchestrate the team, and be the beating heart, was special. I love that he stepped into the heart of the midfield every time he had the ball, opening up width for us.

I noticed a few heavy touches but they were usually into a good bit of space. I assumed he was luring West Brom into the center with it, but maybe I'm just being optimistic?
quote:

Me as well. I love that the first thing he does is attack the defender and if he can't get through he doesn't panic and lose possession. He runs straight for the end line, and always puts a perfect cross in (WE HAVE SOMEONE OTHER THAN STEVEN THAT CAN CROSS!?!?).
quote:
Henderson didn't have his best game, but he was still a big presence in the middle of the park.
He had 4 or 5 errant passes in the first 15 minutes but settled in. He's almost a poor man's Joe Allen (not passing-wise) in the sense that if he's comfortable in the center, he calms the field down. There's less frantic freaking out, and more easy simple passing. His defense today was superb I thought. Not his best game, but he's doing what Rogers needs him to do absent Allen: calm everyone the frick down.

The kid is a mountain back there. He had some game saving tackles at points. He reminds me of Carra when he was younger.

I know. Where the hell did that come from?
quote:
Yesil is obviously still a bit off the pace, but he had some very bright moments.
He keeps taking one touch too many. As Shanks said, "If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later." Quit trying to juke 15 yards out! He'll get it soon though. He's certainly got the skills to flourish.
quote:
Suso
I can't say enough about this kid's performances in the last week. Cometh the moment, cometh the man. He's really stepped up when called upon.
quote:
Jerome Sinclair..what a moment. The hidden factor behind the second goal. Dragged the CB far post before bringing him back into the center of the box, opening Assaidi wide.
I watched him do this 3 times during the game. He did it again on a break away and ran towards Nuri (I think it was him at least) to open up the middle of the pitch. They weren't on the same page but Jerome dragged the defense right past where Sahin would have continued his run. Great attacking intellect.

Wisdom! He was awesome on both fronts today! Great in defense (he had one or two slip ups but he's a young guy), and always involved up top with some good attacking. I was impressed with Jack Robinson also.

By lead-foot I meant he seems to be kind of slow.

Exactly.

It was Assaidi. Sinclair pulled both defenders wide, but Assaidi tried to play him through instead of drive to the center of the box. Might have been the right decision if it would have come off, but with the terrible match Ben Foster had, I would have taken the space and let it fly as often as possible.

He might start this weekend. I like the kid.
