Let's be honest: Is the board really in the dire straits some think it is?

I say no.
There are a lot of season long threads but I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.
We have more posters than ever and new ones joining more and more frequently.
Our board is the 8th most visited on this site as of the last time that statistic was posted.
I still enjoy the SB as much as I always have, and if anything I've only gotten more involved/attached to this place (even meeting several of you guys in person).
Yes, we have our disagreements, but in the end we can always come together for our support of the good ol' US of A, our disgust of El Tri, our love of Alex Morgan, and our fascination with the beautiful game.
So, to the SB, keep being awesome. You guys rock

The honeymoon is over, now we have to deal with the petty arguments we have among each other to get the make up sex after that is U.S. games, the pinnacle being the defeat of El Tri.

You are certainly entitled to that opinion, but I completely disagree. This might be the most welcoming board on the entire site. Anytime people come asking for information, what they get is usually very helpful.

I think it may just be a beef the older posters have (Me, Beast, Glass, Dore, thenry, etc.). It seems like those who it aggravates are the ones that have been around here forever, and the newer guys don't seem to care that much. Maybe its a sign of the changing times. Maybe its time we accept the evolution of where the board's at now.
I'm just an old enough poster to remember the days when the Rant was intelligent. You could have meaningful conversations without worrying about what we typically deal with as a Rant experience. Then it changed. I see the same thing happening here and it bothers me. Its to a much lesser extent though, and with expanding members, good comes with the bad. Seeing the board this active has been incredible, but it also has its drawbacks. I guess we just have to concede that this place is evolving, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Good post. I've kinda been annoyed, but overall I still enjoy my time on this board. Definitely has dimished some though. A lot of that is it seems crazy, leauxgan and wm72 post less.

People on this board aren't very inviting if you happen to think Arsenal is good/popular enough to have a large bandwagon. I picked City as my team after watching about 15 of their matches last year, and made the mistake of mentioning it here. I knew of Arsenal, United, Chelsea, and Pool as powerful organizations before I started watching EPL, and soccer in general, so I picked a different club. The regulars here kinda banged me up.... since then, I don't feel like I can post anything without being bashed for knowing too little about the sport.
My problem, yes, but it is this boards problem too.
