Certainly possible. I think this WC is going to come down to who has the best backline, as I see a lot of firepower upfront in general.

I am hoping Diego Costa is declared persona non grata in Brasil, this will mean Spain has retained the WC.

It´s Brasil. All South Americans and Central Americans freak out there, except for Argentines, and Uruguayans (who everyone is putting waaaay too much stock into their chances).

I would honestly not be surprised with a Brazil Argentina final. Everyone is underestimating the S American teams. That was a brutal qualifying with Uruguay almost left out.

I haven´t looked at the potential pairings. Is this possible?

Uruguay will not be there. Mark my words.

Even Venezuela could beat half the teams in this year and they've never made a WC. In any other year Uruguay is out without the extra spot thanks to Brazil.

Yes it's possible and likely. Argentina is clear until the quarters against Germany likely.

in general, you mean?

This was one of the Vinotinto´s stronger sides, but I don´t know if I´d go that far.

Only in South America, they couldn´t beat Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay, Brasil.

Ecuador, I haven´t seen enough of them to properly opine, but I know they´re pretty strong.

Costa Rica, maybe.

México, maybe.

I don´t see them beating any of the topflight European sides (Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Portugal), France, I don´t know, Bosnia, I dont know. England, probably not.

I don´t see it (half the field succumbing to Venezuela).

ETA I like the USofA against Venezuela, as well.

Of course a series is different but I'd like Venezuela to get out of several groups this year

All I'm saying is conmebol has the most competitive qualifiers out of all the continents and with the tournament in Brazil I would not be surprised to see all the SA teams get out of the group stage. Only SA teams have ever won in the Americas.

Eh, they said a European side couldn´t win in Africa, either.

We´ll see. BTW, Brasil won the lottery in the USA (PKs), so I wouldn´t call that a ´win´ per se.
