Kosovo and FIFA membership

It seems like a hot topic with the questions about Januzaj and Bosnia going to the World Cup for the first time. I honestly think it's a joke that they can't join when overseas territories can join along with all the home nations in the UK.

I mentioned this in another thread.
It's ridiculous that overseas dependancies and semi-autonomous states like Gibralter, Hong Kong and Guam get FIFA membership, but a legitimately sovereign state (according to over 100 other countries) can't get recognized.
FIFA doesn't want to piss off Russia and Gazprom and China and their billionaire investors.

They did over the summer. It pissed off Spain but that was about it. Gibraltar will end up being another goal difference booster game just like San Marino is. Kosovo would be a little country that could win some games.

It does seem strange that Israel is essentially shut out of the World Cup because of the actions of other governments, when FIFA makes such a big deal about governments staying the hell out of football.

I think it's more about FIFA not wanting every WCQ being a potential terrorist target than anything to do with their politics. I'm not just talking about Israel as the victim either.

israel and Iran would be a great game and maybe reduce tensions. If Serbia and Croatia can do it ....

Yeah, I mean they're not completely innocent in all of this but yes I understand your point. The games between Israel and their neighbors would have to be played at neutral sites in England, Switzerland, Germany.

Well Israel did play in Oceania at one time, which is crazier. I do hope Israel qualifies to Qatar that would be epic.
