Shea looked good for Stoke in preseason and at times has been the bright spot on the field for the USMNT.
He's done more for us than Bacon or Green, for sure.
As usual it's pile-on time when someone doesn't meet the hype that other people created for them.

I'm not sure Brek Shea knows how to play soccer.

But Pulis, who attended a hearing in London to help secure Shea's work permit, said that he was pleased that a solution had been found.
"It's fantastic news that we have been able to push through the deal," he added.
"He has terrific pace, a very good left foot and he is capable of scoring goals.
"If you look at the clippings of him on the internet then you will see what he is all about. I believe he has all the tools needed to be a success here."

Did Pulis sign him over YouTube highlight vids?

Shea is a great athlete but he sucks.

Shea is a great athlete that sucks but has scored goals and created chances for the USMNT and, at some point, was playing soccer better than all of the other Americans who would love to get a contract in the EPL but can't.
He played well for the USMNT early in Jurgen's stint. I don't know what's happened since then, but it's silly to say he was never any good.

I'm not worried about it, I know Jurgen isn't that daft.

I would like to see what Shea can do with more playing time. Apparently he looked decent during his loan. I can't totally bash the guy because he's looked good for us at times and as uway said he sometimes makes things happen. Other times he looks like he has no idea what he's doing out there.

He is really bad the vast majority of the time. Let's not forget that his loan ended prematurely, after being extended, due to "attitude issues," which stemmed from his inability to handle the Barnsley fans heckling him.

Give me a guy like Joe Corona over Shea 100 times out of 100.

If we're looking for a late game sub, with supreme athleticism, to run at tired defenders, Bedoya is the obvious play.

I agree that Bedoya should play that role for us and that Brek shouldn't go to Brazil unless he somehow proves doubters wrong in the next few weeks. But I remember watching Shea with the USMNT and thinking he was going to be a nightmare for our opponents if he continued to progress. I'm not the only one who was thinking that either.

Seems like he could still one day be a poor man's version of Bale.

Shea could still turn into a useful player. We're just all going off of his current shitty arse form.

I'm not piling on that Shea isn't good. I actually love Shea, the dude has swag for days. But his ceiling now (or so it looks), is a late game sub option at best. And he hasn't exactly set the world on fire in the last year. I don't expect he nor Green to contribute in Brazil, but I wouldn't care if Green saw PT over him.
