If he appeals he'll miss:

Tottenham
United
Swansea
Liverpool

And will risk a longer suspension (the reason Suarez didn't appeal).

Unless the Capital One match against United is put in there somewhere

I'm of the opinion that what gets said on the field to another player needs to stay there. The Suarez ban and fine was ridiculous as is Terry's case. An outburst in the heat of a match is not the same as burning a cross in someone's yard. I can't imagine what white players in the NFL and NBA hear in a game.

It almost always stays on the field unless the players take it off the field, a ref decides to something about it, or a mike picks it up.

Remember when Kobe got fined like 100K and had to apologize to the gay community for saying **** because it got caught by the mike.

I am sure derogatory terms are dropped all the time. It is only a foul if you get caught.

But UEFA/FIFA/FA have got to drop the kick racism out campaign if players are only getting 8 and 4 game suspensions. Makes the whole campaign seem a farce.

220,000 pounds is not a farce, by any stretch.

I agree. The real racism problem in football isn't between players, but radical fans.

Why do you need to punish a guy for doing something that only two or three players heard? I wonder how many more "racist" things are said week in and week out, but don't get reported because the players involved know that it is a heat of the moment thing.

If someone called me a racial slur on the field, I'd shrug it off. Who cares what the other guy thinks of me or my skin color? Concentrate on what happens on the field.

Yeah, Terry is held to a higher standard because he's the captain of the national team...but let's not act like he's the only one who does this stuff. No telling what is all said in a given match.

I'm just tired of all this.

This is the only correct opinion...not some douchebag "well if it had to be anyone, I'm glad it happened to Terry/Suarez because I don't like him!" It's absurd.

He was cleared in court for racial abuse...it's a criminal offense to be a racist in the UK?!
