The dread pirate will log some minutes this tournament. He'll do well enough.

I'm curious as to if Bedoya plays centrally or on the wing. I'm also curious to see if Gomez plays on the wing or up top.

Here is what I think our srongest lineup would be, given our roster.

------------------------------Herc------------------------------

---------------Donovan Holden Bedoya---------------

---------------------Torres Beckerman---------------------

DeMarcoos Onyewu Goodson/Parkhurst Beltran

------------------------------Rimando------------------------------

The thought of Donovan and Holden both playing/starting tonight?

This is my new go to gif to express my excitement.

I wouldn't be shocked if Jurgen played Landon as the #10. I'm not sure it makes the most sense squad-wise (Herc on the left, Corona on the right?), but I think he might see Landon as the second best option there (behind Dempsey).

Hence the opponent, time and network in the title, and rosters in the OP.

Haven't watched much of the Mexican league. How are the Yanks faring down there? I know that Herc's been doing well from the Champions League matches I've seen him in, but don't know about the others.

Are we talking about the same Herc? Herculez Gomez? He's World Cup material, man.

No he isn't. Herc is not good enough to play striker and is to slow and lacking in service to play the wing. It is time to find some younger players with upside, like Bruin, JackMac or Boyd. Besides Herc is behind EJ and I would be shocked if JK takes both.

Really hope we do not see Wondo or Herc. We know what they are and it is not WC quality. This is what I want to see tonight, not what I expect.

Bruin

Wait. Back the bus up for a second.

Herculez Gomez, who played in the last World Cup, has improved since then and been part of damned near every US squad since 2010 is not "WC quality", but Will Bruin might be?

If Will Bruin made it all the way to "Brian Ching" levels, I'd be impressed.

Shake the tail when you walk, Spanish. You're better than that.

Clearly Herc is slow as shite and Will Bruin is the speed that we NEED

I don't know what Bruin is yet and neither do y'all. My point is we need to see younger players.

Goodson played in the WC and so did Redcardo Clark. That is a poor argument.

Gomez does not bring anything to USMNT that is not available from other starters.

upside

If we can win games with "upside" why don't we just bring the U-20s?

If Herc continues his club form of the past two years, and is healthy, he's going.

He can play multiple positions, can score goals and busts his arse on the field in training and in games.

My guess is that if Herc doesn't impress you then you won't like Bruin. He's much less dynamic of a player

Why?

Do you want guys who are scoring goals playing forward, or do you just want to see young guys?

Maybe you should have a seat over there.

Upside never becomes reality without playing and enough with the cheesy circular arguments. Who of the starters is Herc better than? Do you think he is better than EJ? Personally, IMO, I think Herc is at best 4th choice S and 6-7th at winger. I know people like his work ethic, but I don't think he needs to be played during WC.

Also, the only focus for the next month is to win the Gold Cup, to guarantee our play-in spot for Confed Cup 2017 (?).

If Conor Casey had 15 goals already in MLS this season, I would wholly support his inclusion in the GC side. If Alan Gordon scores 25 goals between now and next June, put his sorry arse on the plane to Brazil.

You don't honestly think Buddle, Findley and Gomez were included in the last World Cup side because they had upside, do you?

I don't recall making that statement. Which of the strikers on this roster is a definitive upgrade over Herc?

You know who else lacks upside? Almost 32 year old Jermaine Jones. Should we pull the plug on him?
