No, I'm not one of those anti-soccer fans trying to change the game. I'm just curious about your opinion on the possibility of having instant replay for penalties in the box.

I think the ref should have a pager and if it is a first touch goal, the ref should be notified by the pager if the guy was off or not.

ETA not a fan of instant replay

Soccer is not even modern or wise enough to have a time clock, and you're suggesting instant replay?

What's next? Some evaporative spray to mark where defenders stand on free kick?

In all seriousness, that seems like a really good idea. That, and a clock that ticks backwards.

No way man things are great as they are. Nothing like an awesome dive in stoppage time to send your time through! Don't ever consider changing a thing!

Are you of the opinion that the Netherlands wouldn't have been awarded a PK if instant replay were in place?

Also, how do you use instant replay to review a subjective call? It would be no different than NFL teams being able to challenge penalties or MLB teams challenging balls and strikes.

Instant replay only for close offsides. Have the ref let 50-50s go and call them back if they're offsides. Simple.

It wasn't a dive. Dude was fouled. Clear replays show this as well as pictures of the event. And like broski said, it was a subjective call. So under all other standards, it would have been unreviewable as penalties are unreviewable in all sports. But yes continue to imagine that replay fixes everything. The tuck rule, green bay Seattle fiasco, no calls and calls at the end of games such as saints/pats last year.

ranter Savage will never get this through his pea sized brain, so it's not even worth arguing.
