calling West Brom, City, Arsenal, and Sunderland "shitty" is a pretty stupid thing to do. As a Liverpool fan, sure you have an undying love and bias that makes you think, "we're Liverpool, we've won 40frickingbillion trophies, thus we should be the shite out of the Baggies, Oil Barons, under achievers, and the Martin O'Neils of the world" yet they have not. The problem with your outlook is that you don't give other clubs the credit they deserve.

with what i am accustomed to seeing from a GREAT program, such as Liverpool….
what do you expect from Liverpool circa 2010-2012? do you expect this?
surely not?
Please, be content with your Carling Cup victory and your almost win last year in the FA Cup! I'm saying that as a fan who's club's greatest achievement/game of the last 40 odd years was coming back and winning the 2nd division playoff. You SHOULD expect greater things, all power to you, but seriously, to believe you're going to do that with 4-5 new players in this year to a club where ALL players are trying to get used to a new system is going to always cause you heartache and headaches. Success is on the horizon

I would like Leeds United to be purchased by an owner/group that give a damn and would invest money into the squad. Keep our young talent, bring in good players with ambition and return us to the Prem.

i WANT them to be great… i WANT them to win
I don't see it.
of course you don't… you've already formed your pre-conceieved notion about me based on posts on a forum… ask yourself this: if i wasn't a fan, would i care enough to posts on a forum about it, and with such apparent disdain? no… if i didn't care, i would simply not post at all…
at the core, we are in the same vein… the way we choose to display our fandom, however, is much different… and that's cool with me…. you are optimistic and forgiving of their play, and i'm pessimistic, and think they are stinking up arenas all across Europe….
doesn't mean i love them any less (or any more) than you do, it just means that we show it in different ways…..
quote:
You really believe we'll be relegated?
i've already explained it, but yeah, if we don't have enough points in the table, then yes we will get relegated, just like anyone else…. we aren't exactly taking the world by storm, and teams sure don't fear us like they used to, and considering how we seem to play down to competition, with new pieces on the team, a new manager, i'm just saying we need to get our asses in gear or the worst imaginable outcome COULD be a possibility….

a problem with us making fun of your extreme and endless negativity.
you see making fun of your blind optimism? ok then…. commenting on, calling me out on it, that's cool… making it personal and shite, that's not…. i would never do that to you, and i don't know you from Adam, but i feel you deserve at least that much respect (and every one else for that matter), so i don't get personal…. "making fun of" would be getting personal….

Chrxis or whoever is a just a damn troll. He was in the Liverpool thread describing how horrible Sunderland is, so I ignore him now.

When have I ever made it personal? Not once. I don't think laughing at someone who is overly pessimistic is personal. Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but I've never insulted you as a person. I never said you were retarded, an idiot, a douche, a shite head.
Just the fact that you don't post anything, for any reason, whatsoever, unless its negative. I find it interesting, and amusing. As well as a good bit of other people. I just think you're overreacting because I literally have never, not once, seen you say something positive in any regard about the club.

I addressed this point above. He's obviously a troll or a terrible fan

I just don't understand why you never post anything other than rants after matches. We have midweek discussions where we talk about tactics/lineups that you never add anything to. That would help change your perception a lot.
I don't think any of us in the LFC thread are being unrealistic about the season. I've said it a hundred times to you, but I personally am not gonna waste energy being negative about my favorite team. It just isn't worth it to me, I don't really understand it. There are ways to criticize the team and players without damning us to relegation.
I will always look at the glass half full, and I will always have hope for the next match.
P.S. me and chxris just had a special moment on the OT

it's not just this season…. it's a collection of the past couple of seasons….. it's just sorta culminating, because from my point of view, we seem to have stalled, OVERALL, maybe even slightly regressed….
quote:

no, i do… but you'd have to agree, based purely on talent of the roster alone, we should be getting 3 points on a consistent basis vs. Norwich, WBA, etc….. and we don't!! we either have a "brain fart" type of game, resulting in a draw, or worse, a loss….
quote:
be content
frick. no.
this is EXACTLY the type of attitude i hate…. i want them to progress, to get better, to achieve more…. i don't care if they have won everything under the sun more than anyone else in history, but right now, there are teams with less resources, less tradition, and less talent passing us up and that, to me, and this is only my opinion, is not cool…. i know winning the PL every year is not possible… it'd be cool, but i'm not ridiculous enough to expect that…. but i do expect them to challenge for it, or at least be in the hunt….
quote:
Success is on the horizon
this is where you and i differ…. not saying they won't have success, but it's all a big gamble, and we are pissing away the "now" for a CHANCE of being good in the "future"… i'm saying, can it not be possible for both? other teams are in that position, of being relevant now, and having something for the future lined up as well… why not us? why do we have seem to consistently have to go back to the drawing board, while other teams seem to not miss a beat? i guess, in all honesty, that's the focal point of my frustration really, and it sorta gets magnified on game days, especially when we see the type of results we've been seeing….
Posted on 9/19/12 at 11:47 pm to LSUSOBEAST1
Also, I think if chxris talked football with me in person he would understand how reasonable I am. I know when we play well, and I know when we play poorly. I can tell when someone is carrying his own weight, and when someone is not. Our approach to talking about it is just very different online.

This.

This is the cornerstone of the club. Its not just a song, its the way we expect our supporters to act. "Support and believe."

well, be honest, has there been a lot of "positive" so far in Liverpool's season? go back to the end of last season even…. there's not a lot of "positive" to talk about really, as far as results go...
Posted on 9/19/12 at 11:51 pm to BleedPurpleGold
If you can't be negative and hyperbolic about your own team's struggles, then what's the point? If bayern loses to Schalke, I'm gonna throw a bitch fit alone.

What if Bayern wins vs. Schalke. Will you still throw a bitch fit? That's the point.

We all are. Read his posts in the LFC thread and you will understand what I mean.
I say all the time that Liverpool isn't good. I make fun of our players like any other fan. I just don't type novelic rants after ONLY negative results. I've never once seen him say something he liked about any one of our performances, win, lose or draw. That's the thing.

sorry, but i didn't say you did… i was giving you an example… i was saying if you were to "make fun" then that would be considered personal, and that i'm not OK with….
hope that cleared it up, as far as that….

again, once i see a positive result, i'll post something positive…. also, keep in mind i'm more of a "ugly win" rather than a "pretty loss" type of guy…. i don't care how the stats look, i just mainly concern myself with the end score…. and we know how that's working for Liverpool so far…. i'm sorry but i just can't get with the "we played hard, even though we lost" mentality… i just can't… i still see it as a loss….

Holy frick, did you watch the Carling Cup?
I would have killed a small asian child for City to have won the same thing and we won the fricking PL.
Call the real fans when some of your favorite memories of your clubs are in the losses, not just the wins. If you want a better fricking
go pull for Barca or Spain internationally. geezus, Liverpool does not run England anymore. gtf over yourself. Resign to the fact that Liverpool is REBUILDING. IT TAKES LONGER THAN ONE frickING SEASON GEZZUSPosted on 9/19/12 at 11:58 pm to Ryne Sandberg

Exactly. The club is trying to catch up to the modern game, it has passed us by in the past 5 years. We don't have the money, so there really is only one way of doing it: virtually starting over. Bringing in as much young talent as you can and building back for the future.
We could maintain a 5th-6th place finish by buying middle-aged talent that we can afford, but the club is avoiding that and instead injecting money into the academy, the reserve squad and young senior-level players.
