The former Liverpool CEO has been hired by the Nashville MLS team as their CEO. I think they begin play in 2020.

Hope things go better there than they did at Liverpool and 1860 under his watch

He did a pretty decent job at Liverpool. He was really only in charge on the business side, which saw a complete turn around financially. He was a bit hot and cold in terms of PR - but I don't know how much the bad steps were his call or those above him. Yeah, he was sort of in charge of the football side, but the big calls were really made by others.

In Nashville, I would expect him to make some good connections business wise, develop income streams for the team/stadium, and generally be good. But if they're expecting him to bring some expertise on the football side, they'd better make sure he either hires someone good or they bring in someone else for that side.

ETA - also, none of what happened at 1860 would be his fault. He's barely even set up his desk when they get relegated.

Nah I agree I should’ve worded that better. I meant I’m actually hopeful it goes well and not in a sarcastic way lol. FSG and Henry like to pretend to be shrewd business men when it comes to the on field product when their success on the field comes from dumping a bunch of money into star players for historic teams (I grew up watching them act like this with the Red Sox). Ian Ayre was unfortunately there for them mostly still being tight with the money on players by big club standards but he got the blame for it. LFC had some atrocious transfer windows in his time there but I doubt much of that was his fault. Maybe he could’ve pestered FSG into spending more but pissing off your bosses usually isn’t a good way to keep your job.

Great! Now all we need is to identify who our token over the hill European player will be.

I hope Nashville goes that route. Don’t copy Atlanta.

Torres would be cool, although no idea if we could afford him.

He'd probably only go to a bigger market though.
