re: How Would You Rank These Club Managers?

If only. Sure seems like he'll be at Dortmund for as long as they'll have him.
I have no idea who will replace Wenger next year. Money won't be an object though (we already pay Wenger the highest manager's salary).

Yeah, Redknapp gets way too much respect from English media. His only major trophy came when he won the FA Cup with the Portsmouth All-Africa team. Part of Portsmouth's demise could be attributed to Redknapp spending a ton of money on players that the club couldn't afford.
Much is made of his deadline day steals, but he makes a ton of transfers, many of whom flop.
He got Tottenham to the Champions League quarterfinals, but did nothing else of note with the club.
Everyone was outraged when he didn't get the England job, which went to Roy Hodgson who is a far more tactically cultured manager.

Not saying he would leave BVB to do it but I can't think of a better guy to build on Wenger's foundation.

As does any manager in the world. Ferguson, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Benitez, Wenger, Pellegrini, etc have all made terrible transfers.
I think the criticism of Redknapp is a bit nearsighted. He's a good coach with a good winning percentage at woefully mediocre to flat out below average clubs.

Pellegrini still doesn't have a major trophy as far as I know, despite managing one of the best Madrid teams in recent memory. Like I said, the lack of silverware from Redknapp is almost entirely due to the fact he managed average clubs.

This made me laugh.

Hodgson made a European final with a Fulham team composed of bunch of spare parts other clubs didn't want.
He sucked at Liverpool, but look at his entire coaching resumé.
Look what Internazionale president Massimo Morrati said about Hodgson's tenure.
Switzerland's highest point in modern football came during Hodgson's reign as national team manager.

"Roy Hodgson was an important person in the development of Inter Milan to the point we have reached today. He saved us at the right time. When he came we were in trouble and things appeared dark. He didn’t panic, he was calm and made us calm. Disaster was averted at the most important time. Everyone at Inter will remember him for that and his contribution. He is considered by us all as an important person in our history. He left an endowment to this club that’s important in our history."

Won a bunch of titles with various South American clubs including an Argentine league championship with River Plate. Also won the Intertoto Cup with Villareal.
Prior to Mourinho, Pellegrini's Real Madrid set the club's record league point total, that was overshadowed by Barça's then record 99 points.
ETA: Look at the rosters for Redknapp's best teams. They're not exactly lacking in talent.
Portsmouth XI for 2008 FA Cup Final:
quote:
GK 1 David James
RB 5 Glen Johnson
CB 23 Sol Campbell (c)
CB 15 Sylvain Distin
LB 7 Hermann Hreiðarsson
DM 6 Lassana Diarra
RM 17 John Utaka
CM 30 Pedro Mendes
CM 19 Niko Kranjcar
LM 11 Sulley Muntari
CF 27 Nwankwo Kanu
That's a pretty solid lineup for a near bankrupt club that finished eighth in the league.

And Redknapp did likewise with Portsmouth and Tottenham. Guided Portsmouth to their highest ever place in the top division in the last 60+ years, and guided Tottenham to their best ever finish in the top division and top 4 finishes in 2 out of 3 seasons. Also guided West Ham to 5th place one season. No slouch, which is what you and OBU are making him out to be.
If he guides QPR out of the relegation zone, that should cement his reputation as a very good manager. Saw a Tweet that if the league were to start on the day he took over QPR, they would be in 9th.

Tottenham won the league in 1951 and 1961. English football doesn't begin in 1992. A Liverpool fan should know this.
The best Tottenham teams were in the early sixties and early eighties.

He's been effectively sacked twice by middling clubs and played a role in the destruction of a club. He's also been at the helm of multiple relegation campaigns. I don't think he's bad, but he's not in the same league as the others.
Moyes hasn't won anything at Everton and I still rate him as one of the best (even if it's near the bottom of that list) because of what he's fine at Everton with so little support.

Sorry, I don't know much about Tottenham's history without using google.

We only know it because Tiny Tots fans are the annoying little brother we have to keep down.

I think he's a good manager but would probably not rate him quite as highly as top 10. Seems a bit comparable to the Tinkerman in terms of a career filled with some remarkable turnarounds.

I'd disagree, but to each his own.

I agree. He is like Jerry Sloan with the Utah Jazz or Frank Beamer with Virginia Tech.

That's a liberal use of the word "history."
