How much time does John Spencer have to turn this club around?

They've got some of the best attacking talent in the league...they also have some of the worst defensive players in the league.

I don't think Spencer on the hot seat, you rarely see managers get fired this early in the season in MLS. Most managers will even end a lousy season before getting the boot.

inb4 TN Bhoy with his obligatory baseless biased claim against a former Rangers player.

I don't really care about Spencer. I am, however, watching Monster Munch's progress with anticipation.

Also, the only awful club in the MLS is Toronto.

Look, I hate Canada as much as the next guy, but it's really just sad that one of the most well supported clubs in MLS can't get their act together.

Also, why did you ask this question in this thread, instead of starting your own...so all of us soccer homos can see?

In a thread asking about the potential for firing a manager, you asked why soccer players were weird. How is that a "legit question"?

Not mad, just curious as to why you asked that here.

And, like TN Bhoy said, it's not a legit question.

I think the Timbers will play better down the stretch and give spencer all the time he needs.

I hope so. Did you watch all the matches? Futty danso being back is a major plus.

I think that we'll be scored on a lot less with Futty back. The brunner/danso pairing was solid last year, I think it's the biggerst difference between this year and last.

You know, I thought John Spencer was a very good coach...and he still may be. When they signed Kris Boyd I thought he and Spencer in Portland was a great fit. However, Boyd can't seem to score unless you set the table perfectly for him. Spencer gets the full year to right the ship. If Portland slightly improves I think he comes back next year.
