Deadspin just posted that Chastain criticized Buehler during the match, and reminded me that Chastain was vocal about Solo's drug test weeks ago (which was proven to be a false positive).
So that could be part of it.

I also Watched both games and have no idea what she's talking about. In the France game I thought Solo let in 2 very soft goals and the commentators completely gave her a pass.
IMO Chastain and Arlo have done a pretty good job so far.

Well she has been the worst field player from what I've seen. Commentators aren't very interesting when all they talk about is how great everybody is. I've always notice the british guys aren't afraid to criticize a player who is having a weak game but for some reason american commentators shy away from controversy or "calling players out".
Players taking things like that personal is a little bit ridiculous. Solo should shut up and concentrate on the next game.

I think Chastain consistently makes uninteresting points and harps on insignificant shite. She also uses very rudimentary soccer terms and that bothers me.

Her comment was that Buehler gave the ball away too easily and she had to work on that more.
Don't know where Solo's getting the "worst" comment from. I don't like Chastain, but this is ridiculous.

Same can be said of most American commentators. She's definitely not any worse than martino, foudy (especially in HD), christian miles, or harkes.

Yeah I'm not trying to claim she's done an incredible job or take up for her, just agreeing that Solos comments are ridiculous.

I'm not making a statement on any of those people though. The thread is about Solo calling out Chastain. I think Solo is a bit annoying and a loud mouth but I do think Chastain is very bad.

That's a collection of suck right there and I think Chastain belongs with them.

Shiiiiiit. Foudy isn't fun to look at, but she's MUCH better than Chastain. Christian Miles is adequate, but his voice is terrible. Harkes (and especially) Martino are light years ahead of Chastain.
When you talk about announcers that scrape (or have scraped) the bottom of the barrel, Chastain is right down there with Bruce Arena, Marcelo Balboa, and Bob Rigby (if you ever watch Union games on MLS Live.)
Hell, I'd rather listen to Shep Messing than Chastain.

Has anyone ever watched a San Jose Earthquakes game (or highlights on MLS's site) with their TV announcers? Dreadful. Clueless and huge homers. They just know that the sport involves kicking and they are paid to cover the 'Quakes.

I guess we can agree to disagree but i think they all suck. Of course it's all relative, but compared to the better soccer commentators around the American ones all tend to just be garbage.
Marino has gotten better. When he was at espn he was awful, improved slightly when he moved to fox and is fine for mls games on NBC sports. I still don't think he has anything interesting to say but atleast he's gotten comfortable in the booth. His show on fsc was laughable though.
Harkes was a great player but I dont think he was any better at espn than twellman is now. I'll never have much respect for him because of the thing with Waldo's wife though.
Foudy is fine for the women but when I've seen her in the studio for usmnt games she's seems way out of her depth.
