Holy crap, West Brom

So West Bromwich Albion is 3-2-0 in their last 5 matches, with wins over Manchester United, Divenham, Newcastle, and a draw with Liverpool (and Swansea).
If they can beat Crystal Palace in their final match and one of Swansea or Southampton lose their final two, then West Brom wouldn't be relegated. And, oddly enough, Swansea and Southampton play each other mid-week.
What are the odds of some hanky-panky pseudo-match fixin' between those two squads to ensure they both get a point against each other?
Nah, if Southampton draws Swansea and then loses to Man City (and they will), then West Brom still beats them in the table (assuming West Brom beat CP) due to goal differential (at least as presently stands). So Southampton can't afford a draw.
I've been thinking for months now that West Brom was done. All of a sudden, with their good end-of-season run, they have a glimmer of hope.

I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure West Brom NEED them to draw. If either one wins them WBA is automatically relegated.
ETA: looked it up. Yeah West Brom need a draw from swans/ sh and need both to lose next weekend. Also have a 4 goal differential they need to make up with Southampton which could be possible given s’hampton plays city. WBA can’t catch Huddersfield.

Why do they call it Championship Sunday, when clearly the only games that matter have to do with relegation?

Ahhhh thanks for the correction. I was looking at the goal differential in reverse polish for some reason.

Huddersfield is a sleeper pick for dropping into relegation zone:
Man City
Chelsea
Arsenal
And only 2 points clear.

It’s called that cause the three teams that are promoted to the Championship are the real winners.

Good luck getting these bozos to comprehend the true football hierarchy.
Say, if only a diagram existed that could depict the true levels of English football..

Swansea play stoke at home in their last game so West Brom are done. Good effort though to take it to the last week.
Huddersfield will be OK. They have Arsenal at home last game of the season.
It would have been good if Swansea and Southampton was on the last day because that will decide it. Southampton have to win to have any chance.

If West Brom win against Crystal Palace and Southampton lose to Swansea and then Manchester City, Southampton is relegated and West Brom is not.
If West Brom win against CP and Swansea lose to Southampton and draw against Stoke, Swansea is relegated and West Brom is not.
So West Brom are not "done". None of the game outcomes I list above are out of the realm of possibility. Probable? No. Possible? Yes.

Eh? Unless Swansea and Southampton draw then West Brom are relegated.

If West Brom wins against CP, that will give them 34 points.
If Swansea lose to Southampton and draw to Stoke, that would give them 34 points and their GD (-26) is worse than WBs (-23), so WB would go through and Swansea would be relegated. (If Swansea lost to Stoke, WB wouldn't even need the GD tie-breaker because Swansea would then only have 33 points.) (Also, if Swansea lose to Southampton their GD would be even worse along with WB winning against CP making their GD better... the previous numbers are the current GD numbers.)
If Southampton lose to Swansea and lose to Man City, that would give them 33 points and WB would go through and Southampton relegated.
What am I missing here?

OK, take your first example.
If Swansea lose to Southampton etc. Who would be the third team to go down with Stoke and Swansea?

Yeah, you're right, I'm only thinking in terms of getting ahead of one team when they need to get ahead of both, right?

Ha, yeah. Yours would make sense if only 2 teams go down.
The only way West Brom can stay up is the following:
Swansea and Southampton draw
West Brom beat Palace
Stoke beat Swansea
Man City beat Southampton
Plus they need to make up the goal difference on Southampton which is possible because Man City could easily beat Southampton comfortably.
