Took longer than everyone thought it would with klopp
Maybe. And some people weren’t sure it would happen in that his time here also coincided with one of the greatest managers coaching one of the greatest premier league teams

but with how Liverpool was just throwing shite at walls hopping it would stick with buying players for a while it was always gonna be a painful process
I think people forget we nearly went into administration. And when FSG originally took over, even though they’ve been great recently, they clearly didn’t know anything with how an English football club was run

I assume you’re counting Salah as the third?

you can't deny he's fit in brilliantly with Klopp

He has, but his passing wasn't progressive enough for some time. He was too safe. He's improved in that respect at least.

When he was playing as a #6, I agree... but that was never his strong suit.. he was filling a need until we signed a proper DM (finally.. took years)..

To go back to the OP.. ironically, Hendo would be a squad player if we had a prime Gerrard in this team... He'd most definitely be the nailed on started in that RCM role..

But again, he will go down as a club legend IMO.. maybe not as an individual talent, but for being an important cog in the machine and captain of some incredible, record setting teams...

Henderson is a weird player. He's been an important cog, but it's hard to think of a standout season, other than maybe this one, where he would be considered a top 5 midfielder in the league. I wouldn't even put him as one of the best midfielders in the league this decade.

Oh yeah... In regards to ability, I think he's a good all around midfielder... nothing more.. his intangibles are what elevates him (professionalism, work ethic, leadership ability)in our current team, IMO...

He's never been a match winner or can take over a game... he just does the job he's asked..

I certainly like Hendo but he's riding the coat tails of VvD.

Dude would make me look like a WC midfielder. If you threw VvD on many of those Gerard teams, they'd have won quite a few more trophies.

VvD is a generational CB, the dude completely controls the game and when he's on, which is basically always, he/the team is basically unbeatable. It's like having a WC holding mid and CB all at the same time and just allows Fabinho to run around and do whatever TF he wants, and in turn, let's Hendo have almost zero responsibility. Most anyone with any kind of ability would thrive in that setup.

Crystal Palace didn't have a touch in our box yesterday. For 90 minutes.

Hard pressed to find a more pure class and dominant defender with all the tools. He's the best I've watched play since Cannavaro and he's 2x his size.

When I think of recent great ones, Pique, Silva, Vidic (in his top years), Rio, Terry etc, they all have something missing IMO. Don't see any holes in VvDs game and he's still ridiculously young.

Stevie also ran around in a Real Madrid strip, when young. He knows football.

This, I love Hendo but come on. Also, Sadio Mane needs more recognition. I cannot remember how many times he is the best player on the pitch for us (VVD excluded) but his stats might not show it. As good as he has been he is getting better and better it seems.
