I was in what is typically referred to as the Center in Poltava Oblast. That area is considered the mixing zone between Russian and pure Ukrainian language. Then again everyone in the country knows both to some degree.
The people there are either apathetic towards all politics, or slightly favoring the West and the Euromaidan Movement. You get a few Russian sympathizers, but not many.
But Western Ukraine is the worst scouted area for athletes. The nepotism of the previous regime, most sporting directors were from Russian-only zones who don't venture west of Kyiv.

Was this for the Peace Corps or something similar? I'm assuming you did not attend the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management to get a PhD in Holocaust Denial.
I always wonder how poorly scouting works in much of Eastern Europe.
Look at how many Albanian and Turkish pros come out of Germany and Switzerland and compare them to the number of Albanian and Turkish pros that come out of ALbania and Turkey

Yeah, Peace Corps. I was evacuated in February.
I think the Balkan countries have the best scouting, if only because they're relatively tiny countries. They also do a good job of scalping foreign-born players, and send off their talented kids to national or foreign academies.
