Well, that was demoralizing. We finally get it back and Gooch passes it to absolutely no one.

Thats how you play a superior team.

people always say this about the US, but we never play well when we play bob ball

we always look much better, and actually produce, when we try to pass the ball and attack

we're not trying to possess the ball

when we stop them, we just clear it or pass it sloppy out of the back, setting us up for failure

finally a counter

Guardiola could be our coach and we wouldn't have nearly as much possession as them. But when we do have it we can't just pointlessly give it away.

I agree, but I don't think we have the speed to play such a counter attacking system. We can't get players up the field fast enough when we get the ball out of the back. Dempsey and Donovan are not wingers.

when we just cleared that one, it was fine. the ball went out on deuce, but we didn't just kick it out of our 1/3

that's what i'm trying to say

we won't out-possess them, but we don't have to piss every opportunity away b/c we're scared

and we play this way against shitty teams and good teams

Sitting back and clearing the shite out of the ball will get us no where. This defense isn't good enough to stop Tinas attack all game. We should be playing a possession game. Hold the ball and keep it from their playmakers.

Our possession problems start at the back. Teams like Argentina play such high pressure that in order to keep the ball your center backs have to have good ball skills.

And ours just don't.

That's the argument for Tim Ream.

exactly

we learned that last cup. we will give up shite goals b/c we don't have some elite D to fall back on

we have some decent attacking players, but we can't just rely on long balling it to jozy and praying he can make a perfect pass

other teams who can attack (like aregentina) just tee the frick off on the US b/c they know they only need 3 real defenders back b/c we're no threat to even attempt an attack
