Ozil, 25, helped fund operations for 11 sick children in the World Cup host nation before the tournament and Germany's successful World Cup campaign has inspired him to donate more money.

Joachim Low's victorious squad are believed to have received bonuses of 300,000 euros per player following their 1-0 victory of Argentina on Sunday.

Ozil confirmed his charitable intentions on his official Facebook page, writing: "Prior to the #WorldCup I supported the surgery of eleven sick children [in Brazil].

"Since the victory of the #WorldCup is not only due to eleven players but to our whole team, I will now raise the number to 23."

I read somewhere earlier today (possibly on here) that he donated his WC bonus to Gaza. Glad to see that it went to this.

The best way to know if a rumor is false if it mentions a celebrity giving money to Palestinian causes.

He didn't send any money to Gaza, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did in the future.

Which part? His agent said he didn't give money to Gaza, he paid for these surgeries instead.

Someone on reddit said something to the effect of "well that 23 Brazilian lives he may save make up for the 23 Brazilian deaths he caused"

Got that. Just wondering about the not-so-subtle suggestion of anti-Semitic activism. Where is the evidence of that?

You're right. A poor choice of words on my part. And not a SB topic really.
