That loss hurt. They could afford to lose Salcido and Marquez because they have defensive depth. We do not, and as soon as Cherundolo went out, so did the cohesion of our back 4.

Can't wait to get back at them for this one.

I just don't know if we can. frick man, I feel like this whole tournament was Mexico's coming out party. I think they will dominate CONCACAF for years to come. I pray I'm wrong, but I'm just not very optimistic right now.

eta: ranking the concacaf, it has always been US/Mexico then the rest. Now I feel its Mexico... then US a little ways behind it. Then the rest. We've slipped, and Mexico have gotten stronger.

I was feeling the same way after the game and all day yesterday. It's not just this one game, it's the issues of depth going forward.

Even if Goodson and Ream both pan out, who's behind them? Same with Lichaj and Chandler. Altidore goes down, and what other holding forward do we have who can step up? Yeah, we've got depth in the midfield, but that alone won't help win games against better competition.

If USSF keeps Bradley on through this next World Cup cycle, and we wind up not qualifying, we're pretty much looking at six years of meaningless shite soccer for the national team.

Also, never Bornstein, ever again. Bring a youth prospect instead. If we're going to have to give up goals in terrible fashion, at least let it be a learning experience that helps the team actually get better in the future.
