Goalkeeper thread: Iker Casillas is not currently a top keeper + best countries

Diego Lopez straight up outperformed Iker and is still doing it. People thought Mourinho was just being a douche even though the numbers said that Lopez was doing better.
Manuel Neuer
Rene Adler
Diego Lopez
Gigi Buffon
Asmir Begovic
Brad Guzan
Petr Cech
in no particular order are guys I'd take ahead of him at this point in time. I haven't seen much of Thibaut Courtois and Sirigu lately but they're up there, as is Hugo Lloris. I'm not saying he's not a good keeper, but his current form is nowhere near legendary Iker that we all became accustomed to.
On another note, there is an insane amount of goalkeeping talent in European leagues right now and the U.S. is one of the best countries in terms of goalkeeping depth. I think Germany is currently number 1 with:
Neuer
Adler
Zieler
Trapp
Baumann
ter Stegen
USA:
Howard
Guzan
Rimando
Spain:
Lopez
Casillas
Reina
Valdes
Belgium:
Courtois
Mignolet
Casteels who is Hoffenheim's keeper and has looked pretty good.
Italy:
Buffon
Sirigu
Marchetti
I think the US is in the same neighborhood as the other countries listed. Hell, Guzan may be playing the best out of any keeper in the PL right now.
What other countries stack up?
Anyway, I can't sleep and I'm sure Dandy will be mad about this. Love y'all.

Did you purposefully leave De Gea off the Spanish list?
Posted on 8/21/13 at 3:32 am to hendersonshands
I got crucified for saying this not too long ago.

And freidal was still performing at a high level two years ago, and into the beginning of last season until lloris bumped him down (freidal was playing phenomenal even when lloris first joined the team)
I still think petr cech or gigi is the best keeper that I've seen in the past 7-8 years. Probably cech barely taking the edge

To be fair, people started thinking that Mourinho was being a douche when he tried to act like no squats Adan was in better form than Casillas

You put this clown on the list?!?!

One mistake shouldn't discount a larger body of work.

Obviously I understand that but he will never live that down in my eyes.
Also, he is only 21. His body of work at the top level can't be that large.

Definitely not. He's still a promising prospect.

Dutch have Vorm, Stekelenburg and Krul. Not bad

Most evil sounding trio listed.

ter Stegen is 21 and has more than 75 appearances for Gladbach. He's not a finished product and he makes mistakes from time to time but he's incredibly talented and if he keeps progressing, could be at the top of the list some day.
I figured you'd have an issue with me listing Germany 1 but whatever, they're stacked at keeper.
I forgot about De Gea, yeah, Spain has a very good crop.

I don't know anything about and obviously he doesn't suck but the one time I have seen him play that happened so when I hear "ter Stegen" I think of that and laugh.

Just giving you a hard time for starting that super long goalie thread and ending it with "Germany #1". But, like you said, you had to see that coming. I'm sure Dandy will be here soon to really spice things up.

So where would you put De Gea in Spain's list?
Posted on 8/21/13 at 9:42 am to WarSlamEagle
I think he's better than Valdes, currently playing better than Casillas. I don't know what Reina is up to.

Liverpool loaned him to Rafa's Napoli and got Mignolet.

where would you rank Poland with Szczesny and Fabianski dominating? I'll hang up and listen.

But, wait, Hendo...aren't we forgetting something?
Where's England on this list?

Whats with the Guzan craze? I feel like his distribution is too terrible to be given the title as top PL keeper. And before anyone questions me, I saw him in person!!!!
