I got suckered back into playing FUT this week and built a Premier League squad around a Coutinho Liverpool card from when I first got the game, a Bernardo Silva and an untradeable Daniel Sturridge Halloween card.

I'm currently going through the Advanced SBCs. Have been able to fill out my Premier League squad with what I've packed, including a Martial card I use as my super sub off the bench for any of the top three spots.

The TOTW players I've packed have been pretty lame — a slow De Jong and a French keeper that I can't remember. I'm pleased with getting Cou, Martial, Matic, Rudiger, Mustafi and Silva from packs, though.

I was using Vidal at cam and Tolisso at CDM. I’ve had a stroke of pack luck lately though and switched to a premiere league team to accommodate my TOTY Kane and De Bruyne cards

Btw, which one of y’all did I play the other day? You were better than me but hit every shot directly at the keeper and I salvaged a 2-1 win

Current squad. Trying to save enough coins to buy back 84 Callum Wilson so I can play De Bruyne at CAM. Two High/High workrate strikers is a liability on counterattack’s. I could sell my OTW batshuayi but feel like that card will be worth another 100k before it’s all said and done.

I had Mooy at CDM because I generally hate having anyone on the pitch outside of the back 4 that can’t make an open shot if the opportunity presents itself. But after playing against Bakayoko for about 15 consecutive games last night I caved in and bought him. I can’t decide if he or Fahrmann is the most OP player on the game. His positioning is second to none and I’ve played with Naingolan, Kante, and IF Vidal, IF Tolisso at CDM. Bakayoko defends better than all of them from that spot.

So playing MM last night I legit had an incorrect offside against me called, which stopped my player from getting a hatrick.

The replay with the black zone and the white line showed my player in it but the defenders foot two feet out of the zone keeping him onside. I was fuming.

I just packed Bakayoko. I’ll give him a run over Matic and see if I like him more.

I’m a big fan of Wijnaldum in the game. I’m not as effective with Silva as I thought I would be. Coutinho is fine, wish he was faster.

I’m still waiting to pack my first really good card and then build my squad around that.

Baka offers nothing on offense but he is the prototype destroyer. I put the catalyst chem style on him to boost his pace and passing ability. He does a good job of switching defense to attack. He isn’t Pirlo but he passes well enough. My problem is my wife players don’t get involved unless I’m on the counter. I rely on 1-2 passing with my strikers or beating a guy on the dribble to create a chance. I’m not the best dribbler or skiller so having studs at striker is a necessity for me. Kane doesn’t need a good look to bury one. It’s the dumbest card I’ve played with in any edition of FIFA. Every time he hits it the ball is going 100 mph. He’s got 89 goals in 92 games for me, all in divisions 2-4 (missed D1 by a point last weekend and promptly lost about 10 in a row after my relegation, as is standard)

You’re right, Bakayoko is hella nice on here.

But man, the scripting in squad battles is obscene.

It’s the same in FUT seasons. Typical stretch for me:

Win Division 3 title. Don’t win a game in division 2. Relegated to division 3. Don’t win a game in division 3. Relegated to division 4. Win title. Repeat previous steps.

It’s so transparent I don’t know why I still let it bother me. I should really learn to just turn the game off after 3 losses. Outshot a guy 16-3 the other day and lost 3-1. He saved two 1 v 1’s from 6 yards against the best finisher on the game. The real tell is when one team dominates possession on deflected balls. When every loose ball falls to the other guy (often working better than the best pass) then you know you’re fricked.

How are you guys getting such good players in packs? shite.

I just play until I get enough coins to do draft modes . Drafting the team is so fun to me. My normal team kinda sucks. I haven’t packed anyone too crazy at all. Draxler probably best player

There’s no secret to it. It’s pure luck, best thing you can do is wait on promo packs. Pack rewards from winning draft matches are typically better than standard packs as well. From there it’s just playing the market. Selling players when their value is at its highest- investing in players that you think will go up in value.

For example; Good chance that Aguero wins POTM in premiere league and will have a squad build challenge. Now is a good time to invest in Man City players and Argentines as their value will go up because they’ll be needed for that SBC. I’ve got a OTW batshuayi but don’t plan on selling unless he gets to around an 88 (85 currently). That will net me an extra 150-200k coins just by being patient.

I have had incredible luck this year though. I’ve packed a few in form cards, a Kluivert Icon, and a Pogba when he was selling for like 500k. Fernandinho handles the same way in game and costs like 4K.

I probably ripped 10-15 Ultimate Packs this year and my best pull was Lloris and Iniesta

i haven't played in forever, but I raised my coins by doing strictly squad battles every week and just saving up for players I wanted. I only ever bought Ultimate Packs, aside from that I did the Marquee Matchups every week for packs and tried to predict who would get picked to try and flip for big coins. Nothing better than turning a 200 coin bronze player from some assfrick team into one someone quick buys for 6-7K.

I’m just not gonna do any of that stuff.

I’m good enough to get by with an average team and I just like opening packs

There’s really only a handful of players on the game that don’t have a cheap equivalent when it comes down to it. A 3k Martial card handles the same in game as a 550k in form Sanchez card. Even that TOTY De Bruyne card I have doesn’t “feel” like a fantastic card, and he missed a fricking squared up sitter for me last night. Some players just handle differently. In past FIFAS you could just tell the difference from Ronaldo and everyone else. His movement was just so much smoother. That TOTY Kane card has that feel, where a Firmino or Lukaku or Aguero card just don’t compare. Giovinco is another guy that just handles differently.

Well Martial is fast and that's all that matters in FIFA essentially lol.

Also why KDB or David Silva aren't used a lot. They aren't fast.

Eh, it’s not all that matters. Combine it with decent agility, decent strength, and a 4 Star weak foot and now we’re talking. That’s why Messi always sells for like a million less than Ronaldo, he’s easy to push off the ball.

Tanks operate as well as pace whores, sometimes better. You might catch up to them from behind but they’ll just shove the defender off and knock him off balance. Plus defender pace is OP as frick. Can’t tell you how many times my Aubameyang or Mane has gotten hawked by a 72 pace CB.

Nobody uses Silva because he is slow, weak, and can’t shoot. Eriksen is a better option. De Bruyne is one of the most expensive cards on the game, tons of people save up for him.

This is what I thought at first too because it was so overwhelming but just watch videos from guys like RunTheFUTMarket and you’ll learn pretty quickly how to invest properly. Theres tons of people that stream and make vids solely about investing and flipping that don’t even really play the game lol. And for the love of God yall quit building prem squads unless you have the money to obtain the OP players worth building around.

And I strongly disagree on the speed take, I’d say that only matters if you just play the computer. You generally need to pace whore with at least 1 forward and with your fullbacks (if you let them push into the attack), but otherwise pace isn’t near as important as in previous FIFAs.

no i mean like i dont care to do it. im traditionally an online seasons player (non ultimate team) but i like buying packs, so i play ultimate team and draft mode within ultimate team. occasionally, i get annoyed when i play against aubameyang, but he's the only player that really pisses me off.

Most of my Prem squad is players I've packed. I did pack a Bernardeschi IF today and sold it. Got an IF Callum Wilson and an IF Ederson with my profits from it and some other cards.

If I ever get a truly great card worth building around, I'll probably build one from another league. But my IF pickups haven't been great.

Didn’t really mean that toward you, I’d say you’re the execption to the rule since the vast majority of FUT players use a narrow formation and the PL offers a lot of good wide players. All personal preference but I’d recommend selling LFC Coutinho because it’s out of packs (thus rare with an inflated value) unless you really like his passing/dribbling.

Thanks for the tip, I'm probably going to do that. He's fine, but I'd prefer playing Martial on the LW more.
