Fell just short of the division title in division 5. Got promoted and still using my La Liga team almost exclusively. Been a nice roll to the top.

Good lord.

On one of my careers, Valencia paid 35 million for Carlos Vela.

Fire up a new career.

First headline I see:

Arsenal looking to bolster attack with Lewandowski and Aguero

Wow. That team. Here's my current bumbling team in Division 5. Lost last 3 games to avoid promotion. I got destroyed in all of them too. Not sure what caused me to suddenly be unable to defend.

i've basically said frick FUT lately and am back to H2H seasons

playing as Belgium and made Div 2 last night

Belgium is real fun to play with and they're not so good that they play elite teams. typically I play Mexico or Brazil...maybe France. i have my settings set to "national team only" if i play with one. i may change it and see what quality of club team i get matched up with

Don't. I strictly play with Arsenal. Similar to Belgium ratings wise, 80-82 att mid def. I get matched up against Real 8 out of 10 times. I'll occasionally draw Barca or Bayern

do you have the match stuff on restrictive? just curious

2 fast wingers + 2 strong CMs + a great CAM is typically what i need to get going and Belgium has it

KdB and Hazard are amazing on the ball

Whatever the general settings are so I doubt it.

This is how I kick Real's arse 90% of the time, so you would probably match up well

Oxlade and Walcott on the edges. Ramsay and Cazorla DM, and Ozil at CAM, sanchez up top

put that shite to restrictive and you won't face real

Nainggolan is one of my favorite players on this game. he is so strong people bounce off him. i had him in FUT and used to run with Roma a lot on H2H but i jus used him at DM. he's CM in the 4-4-1-1 for belgium and he makes runs up and has a wicked long shot

My favorite type of players. I don't know why I never use Belgium, they fit perfect with my game style. How high do you play those wingers in the 4-4-1-1?

i honestly just play the standard formation. it's a "4-5-1" but KdB is a CAM but really plays up so i said 4-4-1-1

hazard and mertens don't play very up b/c the fullbacks on belgium are slow (but big, which has a shocking advantage when teams try to play long ball to the wings, which many online players do)

also, i don't think kompany is on the team but the CBs are pretty mobile

unless you have brazil/PSG with luiz and silva, i've found CBs don't matter as much in terms of rankings. CBs get abused with their positioning and if the FIFA gods feel they should stumble over themselves and allow your opponent to score. strength and passing in the center, dribbling and passing with your CAM, and speed/dribbling with your wingers matter the most i've found

Roma is a good team with that structure, and so is Zenit. i've tried arsenal but for some reason i can't play with ozil well

I can't stand slow fullbacks. Bellerin is a blessing on this game, holy hell he can run for days on this game. The greatest change I've ever made in FIFA was quit playing Mertesacker. He is so bad even though he is an 83. Always out of position. like throw a controlled bad. and really slow. I started playing Monreal in his spot with Gibbs at the left FB. My defense is hella fast, I rarely even give up chances on counter attacks.

Also allows my wingers to move up into basically a 4-3-3.

i'm scared of tinkering with my instructions b/c of how well i'm playing, but one reason i was interested in belgium was to keep all 4 back on defense. i don't need my FBs pushing up and i'd rather play defensive across the back 4 and allow my CMs more freedom to move up. it's anti-real soccer but works for me in FIFA

big thing is that when i get chances on the break, my wingers have to make stuff happen b/c i won't get many opportunities to score. i like defense and waiting for the right chances to try to score. i also try to keep 55% of possession and i'll dink the ball around the back line until my opponent gets angry and commits too much. i find i'm much saver with 4 back and using the width rather than using the middle like in real soccer.

main reason why is the most dangerous thing you can do is lose the ball in the middle of the field while your players are moving forward. it allows a tackle, pass to CAM/CF, and then a through ball to a streaking winger or ST that is going to be dangerous as frick. if you lose it in a similar fashion on the wing in the midfield, it's a lot more difficult for the offense to get a cheap opportunity and sometimes your CBs moving the "wrong way" will leave them directly in the passing lanes of the ST/CAM

if a winger gets through, i'll use the sidelines as extra defenders and take my chances. if the opponent can't cross well, you just have to watch out for a "wow" dribbling display to get into the box

I definitely agree on losing the ball in midfield on the attack. It's killer, but that's why I prefer a fast defense to a strong one. But the reason I love Ozil is I rarely lose possession with him in the midfield. I'll work it to him get by a guy and force the opposing fullback up. I'll through it to Walcott or Oxlade and not release the sprint button. I'm either cutting in really quick to give a streaking ramsay or Cazorla a through ball at the top of the box for an open look or racing down the endline if they play the sideline defense. I'm getting a good look to ozil or sanchez in the box or I'm getting a corner.

Just one of my plays but I run it a lot especially a guy who is aggressive on defense because with Walcott and Oxlade's speed, they have to guess whether I'm cutting in or streaking down the endline.

Other than that I'm with you, I keep the ball out wide because losing it in the midfield is so costly.

i don't mean that i just pass b/w the back line

if there isn't space in the midfield, i'll toss it back to the CBs and sometimes reverse field

most players i play are full on bezerker and have 7-10 guys in the midfield so it gets congested and i have to bring it back to reform and get them to expose themselves. i don't abuse it but it's necessary against super-aggro guys

I was going through some different lineups for different teams and I noticed that Müller's penalty rating went down 8 points. one globally visible miss and his rating goes down almost 10% :lol

I fricking hate that I love this game

So I'm in my fourth season of a Wigan (had a long career with them a few years ago) play one, sim one career that I've had for a while. I ran away with League One and then got back to back promotions by winning the playoff game over Aston Villa in the Championship. In the Premier League, I finished 10th in my first season. Thought about hopping to another team after that, but the best offer I had in the EPL was Newcastle.

So I'm going to grind through another season and probably jump to a contender in one of the big leagues.

For those playing in England, here are some great young guys who will grow like crazy for you:

- CB Kortney Hause
- ST Jonson Clarke-Harris
- CM Daniel Amartey
- CDM/CB Timothy Fosu-Mensah
- CM Emyr Huws (starts with Wigan)
- LM Callum Harriott
- ST Clinton N'Jie

I also bought Jordan Morris and have made him my super sub. He's a 73 right now.
