I'm running a 3-5-2. Is it best to have 3 CBs? Need to know if I need to buy more CBs and get rid of my LBs and RBs.

I sometimes run a 3-5-2 and what I do depends on who I'm playing. If I'm playing against a team with more pace, I put my 6'4" RB at the RCB position. He's a good defender and tall/strong enough to win headers.
If I didn't have that type of fullback, then I wouldn't use one.

I love three-back formations. I want to be two-deep at almost every position, so you probably need six CBs that you'd be comfortable playing on the first team.
If the LBs and RBs are taller and are natural defenders instead of just bombing wingbacks, you can play them on the outside CB positions and do well. You're going to want to have speed on those outside positions because they'll cover a good bit of ground.

I like to start one on the wing (WB really) so that I can take off a CB and put someone fresh on the wing.

3/4 of the way through my first season at Portsmouth. I didn't do much in the summer transfer window other than a few loans, and I purchased Rafinha (Brazilian forward) from a South Korean team for a bit over £1 million. By the time December came around I was in 1st place in League 2 with a 7 point lead over Leyton Orient. Then I had to go to the board and ask for more money since I couldn't even meet the signing bonus when my keeper asked for a new contract.
First time in any of the versions of the game that I actually requested additional money from the board.
Luckily, they granted me the £250k I asked for and, in return, I guaranteed that I would win the league and make it to the round of 32 in the FA Cup. The winter transfer window came, and I started getting a good bit of offers for my CAM and Rafinha and netted around £4 million for the pair. Rafinha went for £3.5 million to Eintracht Frankfurt. I used some of the cash to get a striker on loan I had the first half of the season and he's been tearing it up. I should have added a purchase option.
I also bought a few younger cats to shore up my flanks as LM and LB were areas of concern. I didn't spend everything, though, and I have about £1 million sitting in my coffers right now. I also got a few future contracts agreed to for next season.
I was able to upset Leicester 2-1 @ the King Power and have advanced to the semis of the FA Cup. I'm still sitting 1st in the league with 83 points, Leyton Orient is right on my arse with 82. So I'm going to have to play all the games from here on out until I can open up a cushion on them again. I can't afford the egg on my face if I don't win the league this season.
A couple of big transfers that happened in the winter in my league: Christian Eriksen went to either Valencia or Villa Real for £35 million while Bayern purchased Özil for over £50 million.

Nice! I'm glad someone else is going the Road to Glory route. I would really look at some of the purchases I made early in my career mode.
Rico Henry, Emerson Hyndman, Christian Walton, Reece Oxford, Diego Poyet, Ryan Ledson, Bradford Jamieson IV, Anthony Maisonnial, Dennon Lewis, and Angelino are some players to look at.
Those are all players I either signed or scouted.
Once I'm able to win the Champions League, I think I'll retire my Notts County manager mode (I did a lot of stupid things this transfer window, I can't help myself). Either put FIFA on break or try a club & country manager mode.

Since my dream of Jordan Morris + Aron Johannsson at Werder Bremen fell apart IRL, does anyone have any suggestions for a Bundesliga team I can build up?
Werder still works, but I was wondering if anyone else has any suggestions. I haven't done a big Bundesliga save since I did HSV in 13, and I like the new presentation for the league.
ETA: A return to HSV is tempting because of their kits and stadium.

I'd go after Union Berlin or FC St. Pauli. I would probably hold off if you can. Morris is going to be added into the game soon, just as Pulisic was.

If I'm going to do a 2. Bundesliga side, I'm gonna pull an SCH and go with FCK. Make them a virtual breeding ground for German-American prospects.

If SCH's stories are to be believed, it seems he's doing his best to contribute

I always buy the FIFA games when they come out but I would love to see 2k throw their hats in the game. Just to get a fresh take on it. PES just doesn't do it for me.

Lost my next game and dropped behind Leyton Orient by 1.....then we took over and won the league by 9 points. I also took the FA Cup with a 4-2 win over WBA in the semis and then a 3-1 over City after falling behind 1-0 on a shitty PK call.
The board is expecting me to gain promotion to the Championship this season while it only wants a round of 32 appearance in the FA Cup and a group stage appearance in Europa. We got a decent starting budget compared to what it was last year for the summer transfer window. I sold a few players so far which paid for my purchase of a new CB we had on loan last season. So I'm still at around £4 million available for purchase with £30,000 for weekly wages. Definitely going to try and upgrade the middle of our offense (CM, CAM & ST).

One win, five draws and zero losses so far at Kaiserslautern. LvG would be proud.
On a brighter note, my scout found the next Nick Rimando... 16 year-old American goalkeeper named Adam Delgado who is a 60 out of the box with a potential range of 76-93 (so, a lot better than Rimando).
He's already at a 75 in goalkeeper reflexes, which is good considering he's 5'10".
I got Iheanacho from City on a two-year loan, bought a German striker named Melvyn Lorenzen as a project and bought Birama Ndoye, a quick and strong CB (80 in potential) from FC Sion who can also play some midfield.

Go with Frankfurt. Good squad you can transfer and a decent starting budget. They have the best kits in the game, imo.
If you want a BL2 team Red Bull is a good start. They have a really good budget. Plus Poulsen and Klostermann can become really good players.

He's insanely good after a little training. Klostermann from Red Bull is another good RB.
