Has the Golden Boot winner at any tournament ever not been on the All-Tournament team? Also Xavi was one of the four players considered for best player of the tournament? Unbelievable.

Yeah, that ball he fed a sprinting Alba on Spain's second goal was complete luck. fricking Xavi is so overrated.

My bad I didn't know one notable play in an entire tournament was worthy of being considered all tournament. Any of Spain's other midfielders (besides maybe Silva) Jordi Alba, probably Pique and Ramos all deserved mention over him.

Did you honestly watch all of Spain's games?

You know nothing. He orchestrates everything.

Yea everyone, except the 2nd half of the Ireland game. That's how I know he was at best the 6th or 7th best player on the Spanish team alone.

Cesc, Iniesta, Alba, Alonso without question had better tournaments, not even debatable. You could make arguments for two or three others as well.

Ok Randy, you are a fellow Chelsea fan and I like that, but C'mon, you are not helping the rest of us out when you post stuff like this. Xavi is, was, and will be great for years.

Amazingly, I've got to agree with Randy. Xavi wasn't at his best until the final.

Sounds crazy, but if I was building a team and I could take one player from Spain. I think I may have to go with Xabi Alonso.

He is great, still overrated when mentioned as an all time great, but great at what he does nontheless. However, I'm talking about the Euro 2012 tournament. There is no way he was anywhere near one of the top 4 players in that tournament. He wasn't even top four on his own team.

Who won player of the tournament?
And how did Torres win the golden boot? Did everyone else with 3 goals have fewer assists? Ronaldo had at least one.

he was tied with at least one other player, but Nando played fewer minutes. Which, oddly enough, was the next tie breaker.

On the broadcast they mentioned Gomez as the guy he was tied with and yea Torres won by doing it in fewer minutes.

Give me Iniesta all day everyday.

What a weird tie breaker. If Torres hadn't scored that goal, then they would have to go back and figure out if Dzagoev or Mandzukic had been subbed out earlier in the first round games.
Six guys had 3 goals (Gomez, Balotelli, Ronaldo, and Torres as well), so the best tie-breaker imo is assists.

I may have phrased that poorly.
It's Goals, Assists, Minutes Played

They did that.. Torres & Gomez both had 1 assist..
thus the need for another tie breaker.
