We looked like shite for the first half hour.
Silva’s position will be in jeopardy if we drop points here.
I feel like we certainly have the talent to compete.

Digne’s crosses are pinpoint.

Lookman needs to start every game

For me it starts and stops with a true CF, then we can evaluate everything else. The CB situation is relatively stable I think (finally), Coleman probably isn't the long term answer anymore but he's not a priority for now. Pickford has some issues but is fine, Bernard/Lookman/Richarlison/Digne are all quality.
I think Gana may move on and I hate that. I love Gylfi but I don't think we can truly evaluate him until we get someone up top that is consistently well positioned and doesn't go missing for 70 minutes a match. Not that I think Gylfi needs evaluating, but I've heard people say he is something of a luxury/niche piece that won't be maximized on a team like ours and I can see that being true. But I'd like to get someone in he can help feed and then evaluate if we need something different out of his role first.
Possible DCL is growing into it a legit forward, but he's not ready yet.

I think DCL has earned himself a few starts which would let Richarlison go back to the left wing. I'm still not sold on him as a full time striker yet either, thought he's certainly improving. But unfortunately that might be our best option if we don't bring in anyone else during this window.
We're going to be fricked if this happens and we don't buy Gomes permanently.

Gomes is crucial, imo.

We have got to do something.
No offensive identity in the final third, lack of marking on set pieces, and huge gaps on defense.
A change of formation/tactics/something.

Straight up dumpster fire performance today

We need some big lineup changes next week. Give guys like Davies, Kenny, and Walcott a chance and see what happens. Basically I'm in favor of benching anyone not named Pickford or Lookman
ETA: Is James McCarthy ready to play?

He was on the bench in the fa cup. Gotta be close. Mina needs to start.

I'm glad I didn't get up early to watch that shite show today. I don't have the answers, but Silva needs to figure it out and Brands needs to find PL talent.

He can't defend your statement or a set piece. The Cup was the only reason for a positive season and he fricked that up too.
If we get rid of him and the almost 1 million in wages we spend on shite players that we don't even play, we should be fine.

I don't see how we could fire Silva right now. Bringing on what would be a 4th new manager (5th if you count Unsworth) in 18 months would be a disaster.
We at the very least need to clear out the dead weight on the roster that previous managers are responsible for. The fact that we weren't able to bring in any new players this transfer window isn't Silva's fault, its Koeman/Walsh's for spending recklessly on player's that no one wants to buy from us.
But obviously Sivla's problems aren't just personnel related. There's no excuse for this team to be as bad as they are are defending set pieces. Silva needs to get his head out of his arse and change something.

Absolutely.
The zonal marking is infuriating. And, his ego won’t allow him to change this strategy.
Also, his ego won’t allow him to change the formation, which clearly ain’t working either. One forward up top isn’t putting us in a position to succeed, which is the basic job of the manager.
