yeah, it's one of those humblebrags.

"Here's why you guys should feel guilty, I'm indicting you all... but I'm sorta the same way I guess."

as it's been said elsewhere, by virtue of being American our team choices will be the result of pretenses and/or whimsy, rarely from heritage or local ties.

what, you didn't complete the 12 Labors of Arsenal before becoming a fan?

Oh... *eyes awkwardly downcast, shuffling feet* Um... I've got some bad news about your fandom...

Wolves, Liverpool, Millwall, AFC Wimbledon, Wigan, Blackpool

rule of thumb is you can pick one top club and as many clubs below that as you want

Fulham and I'm thinking of finding a championship team but honestly you never see them on TV so its a bit hard. I find having two Prem teams to be a bit odd but of all the big clubs I find Arsenal to be the lesser evil.

Also, I don't think it's bandwagon if you end up liking one team in particular because of the way they play.

When I first got FSC, I pulled for Chelsea b/c they were on so much, had pretty blue shirts, and could beat ManU, but it didn't take me long to dislike them b/c they're a bunch of twats.
Since then I've been a Pool fan b/c they just seem like a 'regular guy' team to me. I'm sure that could be disproven, but that's just how they come across on the pitch to me.

There are a buttload of Arsenal fans here, but I think that's more b/c Arsenal plays or is known for playing exciting soccer than it is due to any kind of bandwagon effect.

On the other hand, if you like MUFC, that's bandwagon and there's no other possibility.

When I started becoming semi-interested in soccer, it was United because frankly they were the only club I had heard of. Got more into club soccer, and I frankly had to find my way. I tried Fulham...didn't feel right. I tried Sunderland (which is now my secondary club)....didn't quite feel right. But Liverpool, the mantra "You'll never walk alone", the fans...the tradition. Anfield. It felt right. So I've settled on them. And I love it.

And as for bandwagons, BRB...I'll go find a Turkish third division game to watch to prove my fandom.

I think their nickname helps as well.. I mean who would you rather root for: gunners or cottagers?

a lot of them are just plain funny.

citizens, magpies, canaries, potters, swans, toffees?

hey, I can't control everything.

and the USNT made up for it with a German hire.

For me as far as nationalities go, if it can't be American, German's the next best thing.

Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion for me.

I feel like I have solid reasons for supporting both.

The word Arsenal was literally about 50% the reason I chose them as my team.

Ok...apparently we (the SB) need to come to agreement on what the term "bandwagon" refers to...per my understanding, one must select a team based on recent success and then abandon said team based on more recent failure, only to support another team upon current success or return support to previous said team upon return to success...in other words, pick a fricking side and support them through decades of shite only to see 1 or 2 years of CL success.

I am a ManU fan and i didnt pick them recently. When I was 12yrs old i thought Eric Cantona was the greatest player on earth. so i naturally became ManU fan. I think this is how most 12 yr olds pick a team and stick by them. Its cool that they are damn good and have the financial backing. its cool i get to root on a team that has a shot at the treble all the time, but i would still be a fan if they were a middle of the road epl team. too man people think if you dont pick some no name team than your not a fan, when in reality its just the opposite. GLORY GLORY!!!
