Yeah, I'm sure our 11 players would suddenly start making much more reckless tackles and lose ball skill

Dude, have you ever seen Stoke play? They certainly don't value the things which make a good international side, in general.

There's a difference in them wanting them to do well and being fans of that club, I'm pointing out the ridiculousness of the statements hoping the team loses every game, which implies the players on the team play poorly

No. It's the way they play the game.

So why do you have such a huge problem with me not liking the Suarez and chincharito? I don't like the way they play the game.

Except for Tottenham I hope they lose. Unless we can win the title on one of their results.

A) you people clearly don't understand hypotheticals

B) you're also way too attached to your preconceived notions about soccer

I don't at all

Not liking a player because of where they are born is stupid to me. If Chicharito was born 100 miles north, he would be an American hero.

And I'm pointing out the stupidity of any notion of an obligation of rooting for a team just because they have Americans on them.

You must have no idea what "preconceived" means.

On a serious note, I hate players for a lot less... However, ironically, I love Suarez for the heart and soul he pours into every minute of the game... Not to mention his incredible skill...

If you like Stoke then you obviously haven't watch any Stoke v Arsenal game over the past few years.

I disagree. I like what I like, and I don't like what I don't like. These aren't preconceived notions in that I didn't bring these to the game. I've formed these opinions after watching the game for many years. I mean, rooting for a team just because a few players share your nationality is clearly more ridiculous than despising a team for the way they actually play on the field.

I'll follow cameron and edu at stoke and hope the two of them play well enough to earn the attention of a team that doesn't play garbage soccer.

Obviously there's a lot of nationalism on here (although some of it's tongue in cheek), but I'm not sure it plays that big of a role in club support. There are only like 3 or 4 Fulham fans on here; there are at least 2 Wolves fans.

Personally the fact that McBride played for Fulham had something to do with me picking them but it was more an all other things are equal type thing; no team stood out to me and I didn't feel like supporting a big club. I assume Fulham will be American free by next week but I love how we've been playing under Jol.

I hope they play well because I want them to keep improving. Playing in the EPL will do that, even if it is for Stoke.
